the rooms are great...old but functional...seldom that on sees such large bathrooms in hotels...Sofitels beds are simply the best...the service and staff (reception, housekeeping, banqueting, etc.) are all outstanding. Just returned from 4 nights at the Pavillion Winter. Overall I was very impressed with the hotel. It is very majestic, and in its hey day must have been a sight to behold. The Pavilion is a separate and detached wing of the Old Winter Palace and is graded as 4 star compared to the 5 star rating of the OWP.
