Right out of Arabian Nights in the best way. We arrived here in the dark after a long day in the Valleys of the Kings and Queens. We were driven deep into the country on the west bank of the Nile, through a very traditional village and ushered into a vaulted space with a fountain in the middle. We followed... more

Al Moudira is a beautiful hotel. From the lobby to the rooms and from the restaurant to the swimming pool, every place is well decorated and very comfortable. It is near Luxor, but not in the city of Luxor as all the hotels here. So you need to have a driver that drives you to the beautiful Luxor spots. But... more

We stayed at the Al Moudira for just one night and wished it could have been longer! It is a picturesque Arabian-style hotel beautifully appointed with decorations from the owner's travels around the world. Our room was probably the largest we have ever stayed in! The staff was especially accommodating, as we were the only guests during this low season... more

Like other reviews of this hotel you must realise that it is not in the centre of Luxor. Just what we were looking for. We have stayed in many first class hotels throughout the world and this is one that we will be returning to again and again. If you are looking for peace, good service - we didn't find... more

The hotel truly has an appealing aesthetic in a tranquil setting, and is literally on the edge of the desert , giving you a real sense of "getting away". However, upon closer observation there are a lot of rough edges with the finishing touches of the building, it's decor and most importantly, the service. We found the staff were mostly... more

We are very experienced travellers (6 languages , 130 countries ) .We believe that a hotel should be not only a place to wash and sleep but shoud also be a part of the travel experience .Therefore we search for and select hotels which offer something distinct and unique .Obviously our choice is very rarely a chain hotel ! Al... more

My and my family (party of 23) went to Egypt on my grandparent's aniversary, we took a cruise down the nile (Sonesta Star Goddess) and then we stayed 2 nights in Luxor at the Moudira and went to Cairo and Jordan after that. The Moudira was the best hotel by far! This hotel is in the edge of the Sahara... more

Over the past three months, we stayed at the Al Moudira for a total of six weeks, in early December, again in January and then at the end of February and into March. It became a second home for us, and I will miss it. I will miss the people, especially the owner Zeina, and her assistant Konny, and all... more

Running such a unique hotel must be an absolute nightmare, so all credit to Konny, the German manager, for a fantastic job! The people who have given low rated reviews just do not understand what it takes! This was my first visit to Luxor - I've done my Egyptology bit now, along with seething crowds of other tourists - had... more

Yes, the al Moudira is a stunningly beautiful hotel. Much detail and finesse has gone into the design of the structures and of the garden. The interior decoration is detailed as well, although some guest rooms have uncomfortable settees which are better admired than utilized. However, on two stays at this hotel during our trip to Egypt, we found significant... more
