I stayed at the Wildebeest for two nights with my boyfriend recently. The place is very nice, service from the staff was good and you really can't beat the price, however the treatment we received from the manager/owner left us feeling quite insulted. There was a miscommunication and poor labeling as to which bathroom guests are allowed to use. This... more

This review seems unfair as it does not mention the incident correctly. It was not a misunderstanding about which bathroom could be used by guests, (as all of the bathrooms at the camp are guest bathrooms), but was actually regarding the guest drinking from a bottle of mouthwash which did not belong to him. As these guests clearly liked the...

I booked a room via Hostels.com. Wildebeest arranged transfer from NBO which was great. The room was clean and the shared bathroom was cleaner than my personal one at home! Dinner was great - - fried chicken, delicious salads, and chapati. Breakfast was also fantastic. Lynita offered invaluable advice on getting around during my trip and I can't thank her... more

My partner and I stayed either side of a short safari and couldn't have made a better choice. We stayed in a Lamu double room which was clean and comfortable, and incredibly cheap! The house and gardens are lovely - a great place to relax away from the madness of the city. The most amazing thing was how friendly the... more

I have traveled extensively in East Africa and Alan and Alita's (plus baby Ollie) home is by far the best accommodations I have ever encountered. Located in a suburb of Nairobi, the Wildebeest camp is an oasis. As a poor grad student, these posh digs still fit into my measly budget! Benefits of staying here include: 1) Easy booking of... more

We stayed at Wildebeest camp for three nights before and after going on a safari and Lamu island. We immediately felt at home: the staff is so friendly and available. We had wonderful conversations around the table with other backpackers from many different countries, enjoying a glass of South African wine. The breakfast is fantastic and served by a nice... more

On my first trip to Africa I wasn't expecting much in terms of accommodation but the Wildebeest camp was absolutely sensational. Not only is the camp a hidden garden of peace but the tents we stayed in were clean and the comfy beds and big thick doonas were fantastic for the chilly nights we weren't expecting! The absolute topping for... more

I found out about this place from a colleague....my husband and I stayed at Wildebeest for a few nights while in Nairobi. The tents are beautiful, the staff friendly and warm, and the food delicious. Alan and Lynita helped us buy train tickets to Mombasa and let us store our luggage while we went on safari. For those up for... more

I highly recommend Wildebeest camp to anyone looking for a relaxed casual atmosphere. I spent three nights there over the course of a week (lots of overnight layovers) and got to try out a number of different rooms. The tents are great - nice warm showers, comfy bed linens, great views of the gardens. The rooms upstairs are comfortable and... more
