We had one night in Nairobi before we headed out on safari. I have to say I don't really know how this hotel deserves the title "One of the World's Leading Hotels". Whilst it's not bad it's not great either. The Serena lodges we stayed at on safari were fantastic but I felt this was not in their league. The... more

We had one night in the Serena but wished we had stayed longer. We had a large room that was spotlessly clean. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant where there was a buffet and an a la carte menu which was all very nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate... more

My husband and I spent one night at the hotel before our safari adventure began. The hotel is lovely, quaint and peaceful. The rooms were a good size with cosy beds, a nice bathroom, TV, aircon and toiletries. The food was good both at the pool bar and breakfast. We left our luggage in storage whilst we were away for... more

Superb hotel and a very helpful staff. Enjoyed everything about my stay. Just be wary of the sex workers at the Lounge/Bar area during evenings. more

Stayed here for two nights recently at start and end of our Safari and whilst we found the hotel rooms nicely equipped with many nice touches and pleasing decor there were little things that let it down badly for a hotel that is supposed to be top class. Items missing in the room on arrival, niggly things that should not... more

Serena leads the 5 star hotel world in risk. They will build a hotel where coats and ties fear to tread - Afghanistan, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda and other less frequented destinations. Service could not be better, food is consistently good, perhaps a bit slow. But everything happens at its own pace in Kenya and that is part of it's charm.... more

We stayed at the Serena for 1 night at the start of our safari. It is a good place to recuperate after a long flight. After a mix-up with our room booking (we were given rooms for our young children that were not next to each other), the problem was sorted. In the mean time we were given another room... more

My husband and I stayed at the Nairobi Serena hotel for one night before leaving for a 1 week safari. We were on our honeymoon and the hotel upgraded us to a lovely suite on the ground floor- unprompted. The facilities were excellent, we had a small problem with the bathroom drain, but when we reported this someone from the... more
