Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the perfect choice to bookend our trip to Kenya. The hotel is perfectly positioned in the heart of the city with easy access to the restaurants/bars in Westlands and also to the airport. All the staff were so helpful and made our stay so comfortable. In particular, Caroline on the front desk goes above and beyond to ensure your every need is met. The rooms are spacious with all amenities as expected although the rooftop pool/bar/restaurant was a surprise but welcome extra!

My stay at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi was one of the best parts of my time in Nairobi! Our rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the food in the restaurant absolutely delicious (including having yummy gluten free options), the bar was well stocked and had delicious drinks (both alcoholic cocktails and mocktails). The architecture is amazing -- SO surpassing any of my expectations from the online photos! Although it was built during Kenya's colonial era, there were no sketchy remnants of colonialism that made me feel icky or uncomfortable -- all that's left is the beauty and charm of great design and timeless elegance. I was told that every room is slightly different -- and the richness of the historic building (you can get an amazing tour from the brilliant and beautiful Emily) actually makes you feel special to be there. The more recent additions are really cool -- including trees and other plantings -- and connect in a really lovely way to the life of the street, without actually being on the street. BUT, and I cannot stress this enough, the manager, Richard, and his whole team -- from the front desk to the chefs to absolutely everyone on that team (Bonface, both Emilys, Eunice, Samuel, EVERYONE) made being there such a memorable experience. Leaving Kenya is always a bit sad, but the Sarova Stanley staff made it even harder to leave - it felt like I was leaving friends. I have some family in Nairobi, but I will try to find a chance to sneak a stay at the Sarova Stanley on future trips to Kenya. <3

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you found time to share such uplifting feedback on your stay at Sarova Stanley. It is rewarding to note that we made one of the memorable experiences of your recent visit to Nairobi. We take great honor in your feedback on our food variety and appeal, beverage as well as bar stock levels. Special thanks to your appreciation of the structural integrity and classiness of the Sarova Stanley, despite our existence dating back to 1902! Our heritage tour is an aspect that we wish all our guests find an opportunity to experience. It is gratifying that Emily represented us well and made you feel special, which indeed you are. The Sarova Hotels group is known for its refreshing African hospitality. We are glad that our staff Richard, Bonface, Emilys, Eunice, Samuel and all the others that you interacted with left you with good memories. We say ‘Kwaheri’ (goodbye) for now but look forward to reuniting with you next time you are in Nairobi.

Very pleasant atmosphere, the employees are competent, courteous and helpful. Questions are answered quickly and problems are helped at short notice. A visit to the Exchange Bar is always particularly special for me - when you are here you feel a lot of Nairobi's history.

Good service and food, comfortable king size bed, rustic/colonial style hotel in centre of Nairobi. Only real issue was Air Conditioning in room was very noisy and could not open window, so switched off for the one night stay. Would use again if in Nairobi.

Dear Guest, Warm greetings from Sarova Stanley. Sincere appreciation for choosing us as your preferred host on your recent visit to Nairobi. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our service, food, bed experience, location as well as our heritage status. Our team will be more than happy to take you on a tour that tells our story from 1902 to-date on your next visit! We note with regret the malfunction of the air conditioning unit in your room. This has since been shared with our technical team for amends. On safety concerns, our windows are under lock and key but with provision to open subject to a disclaimer sign off. Thanks for your confidence in our hotel and look forward to your promise of returning whenever in Nairobi, which hopefully will be soon.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel our last night in Kenya. The Club room was lovely and allowed us access to the Club Lounge where we spent the next day prior to our flight back to the States. The staff in the lounge was very accommodating and allowed us a day of relaxation and family-time before we all departed for different destinations. Thank you to Collins and Maxwell for their hospitality. Another shout out to Beatrice, Hostess extraordinaire for her attention. We are only sorry we could not have been there for the Swahili breakfast the next morning.

We had a wonderful experience here at the Sarova Stanley Hotel In Nairobi. Our room was beautiful and spacious with all the amenities possible. Also, the hotel staff was exceptional. The Head Concierge, Steve Kinguli, gave us a fabulous tour of the hotel. Mr. Kinguli was warm and welcoming and his knowledge of the hotel and its history were remarkable. We are already planning our next visit to The Stanley Hotel and we will highly recommend it to our family and friends !
