Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel that I don’t recommend any one ,they charges 26 $ usd for extra guest and none of them stayed overnight,20 min ,30 min or max 1 hour guests I have got and some of them just came for breakfast, book with guest friendly hotel instead of this one ,night time is noisy mostly coming from outside, beggars and junkies hanging out cross the street ,3 staff knows the hospitality very well and I specially thanks to them Peter and Wilfred from front office ,Evans from the restaurant.

Response from EmeraldNBO, Guest Relations Manager at The Hotel Emerald
Responded 27 Feb 2020
Dear Arif, Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We always aim to ensure that all our guests have a pleasant time with us and for this reason, I would like to apologize for your experience at our hotel. Please allow me to clarify something in regards to the hotels policy on extra guests. Hotel room rates are based on double/single occupancy. You usually do not have to pay extra for kids in the room. But we do charge $25 per additional adult from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. We don't charge for guests visiting your room during the day. You had booked your stay as a single occupant. You were also informed of the extra guest charges, upon check in and also every time before a guest was directed to your room. All in all, I apologize for your experience. We value your feedback and it was a pleasure to offer our services to you. Wilfred, Peter and Evans send you their warm regards. We hope to see you again soon. Best Regards, Katherine Kashem ( Guest Relations)

Well, for starters, it was a last minute booking and they came through for us, which was quite commendable. Our room was clean and beautiful and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. The food was excellent and we enjoyed it. The inerior deco is amazing, I love the african cultured deco and paintings and it is very creative of them. They only need to dust their rooms as the mosquito net was quite dust and we were unable to use it. The dining room has a panaromic view which made it exciting to sit there. Keep it up guys!

The hotel is in a great location but is overpriced. The rooms had cracks on the wall, the door handle was broken and the telephone line didn’t work. I told them numerous times to change but they did nothing. The worst thing was I was in my room at 2am and there was a double booking the steward and new guests barged into my room without saying sorry as the room was occupied I could have been doing anything there was no apology and this is very unprofessional. The only good point was the breakfast that was nice.

Good location though overpriced for what you get. Paid $75 USD; Large room, average breakfast was included. Staff was friendly, check in and out pretty easy. Stayed on a Thursday and was VERY loud from the street as is across the road from one of Nairobi's craziest nightclubs.

Poorly maintained hotel though conveniently located. Breakfast service is like formality, tried to avoid it as far as possible. Worn out towels in the bathroom tells you rest of the story. I don't recommend to come again.

This is an improvised Hotel in the 6-7 floors of a building, but it is extremely overpriced. The rooms are very dark, but the worst part is the bathroom, and the shower is a joke. There is basically no options at breakfast (have to mention that the boy who serves there is very nice, not his fault that the free buffet breakfast is a joke). This is a 1 star hotel priced at 4 star. The only positive point here would be that if you must or want to stay in westlands this building is in the very center of it, and also that the staff make every effort they can and are very nice people. I don't like to write bad reviews, because I don't want to put in danger others peoples jobs, but I hope that the hotel owners take notice and my advice is that you don't book it over 50-60 usd.
