Kipungani was a very relaxing way to end a safari vacation. We were there 3 nights and were treated to great meals and great hospitality. David, Oscar, Oden and all of the staff were warm made you feel very comfortable. I would very much recommend Kipungani as a great ending to a safari vacation. more

Kipungani was absolutely lovely and exceeded my expectations. It is 100 times more beautiful than the photos! The banda's are spacious and charmingly decorated - loved the palm frond walls, massive bed and cushions made form bright kanga fabric. Our banda was on the water with a grogeous veiw. Stella, the manageress was quite possibly the best manager I have... more

Not enough can be said about this hidden away gem. Off the beaten track of Kenya, 30 minutes by speedboat from nearby Lamu after a 90 minute flight from Nairobi. A perfect location in which to get away from it all, yet visit nearby Lamu and Shela as well. Excellent service, amazing cuisine and the opportunity to simply relax by... more

Kipungani Explorer is part of the Heritage Group Hotels. I was blessed to stay at 2 Heritage Group Hotels... Mara Intrepids in the Masai Mara and Kipungani Explorer in Lamu. Both were absolutely AMAZING! I highly recommend Kipungani Explorer if you want to truly relax and forget about everything else than the present moment. It was pure relaxation! The staff... more

Just returned from Kipungani. We stayed for 2 weeks, half the time we had the place to ourselves. We stayed in number 8 which had steps down to the beach. Sand flies are the real problem and we left with loads of bites. Great time, food was varied and good. Staff were like family after 2 weeks . They offer... more

Kipungani is a fantastic hideaway where you can escape from the trappings of modern life. Just a short flight from Nairobi and a 30 min boat ride from the airstrip at Manda ("Manda International Airport"!!!) and you are transported to a place where time stands still. There is very little to do apart from chill out by the pool, play... more

Andrea and I got to Kipungani on the 3rd day of December. We boarded a flight from the Wilson airstrip in Nairobi to Manda bay.The whole trip was organised by Bunson tours and we have to admit that they did an excellent job! We were picked up from the bay by speed boat to the lodge.... the manager( Sebastian.) was... more

We stayed 4 wonderful nights a Kipungani. It is a 30 minute boat ride from the airport or Lamu Town. A wonderful beach, great sunsets, rustic bandas (cottages). We stayed in number 2 (Mbili in Swahili) which features a ground level banda attached to a second storey bedroom on stilts with a fantastic view over the water. The staff is... more

You arrive at this property after a pleasant 30 minute boat ride (outboard, seats 6). Staff are on the beach to greet you and take your bags and shoes as it's a sandy beach landing. It's hard to describe the rooms or "bandas" but none of the pictures I've seen on-line do it justice. The bandas are very large and... more

We stayed there for 6 nights in Jan 2005. Cannot rate the hotel highly enough if you want a barefoot experience. The food was fantastic, the staff very friendly and the bandas (cottages) very authentic, made entirely of palm leaves. The sea is not very clear as the hotel is situated on the shores of a creek rather than the... more
