My husband and I selected Mahali Mzuri after researching lodges in Kenya for our November holiday. We chose Kenya in general because we wanted to try something new, and Nairobi is only a 13.5 hour direct flight from JFK. Visiting Mahali Mzuri was the most memorable vacation we have taken in our 13 years together. Words will fail to describe how special this was to us, but in an effort to try, I will highlight the property itself (utterly spectacular, comfortable, and unique), the views (you must see them live to fully appreciate them!), the game drives (Betty was kind, fun, and taught us so much<3), the spa and pool facilities (the massages, wraps, facials, etc. were first-rate), and the service (10 stars if that were such a thing). On a personal note, I did not expect to go on twice daily game drives. I imagined I would do one a day and relax for the other. I was a fool!! The game drives were the highlight of the trip, and no two were alike. I look forward to bringing my nieces here when they are old enough to enjoy the experience. For those (like me) with a fear of planes -- the bush plane situation is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, well worth the destination.

We arrived at the camp with a wonderful welcome and met our guide who would be with us for the duration of our stay Gideon. All the staff are amazing and looked after us beautifully. From the lovely housekeeping staff to Jo our "go-to person" who would attend to our requests. The tents are very well fitted out and a good size all the tents are the same I believe (or although they are having a makeover soon which I think is now needed) The weather sadly was not the best for us but it did not deter us from our wonderful stay. The Balcony is super and the views are stunning we watched many animals walk around the river edge every day. The hippos let you know they are there every lovely morning. The Kitchen Garden is a work in progress and we met the chef to walk around the garden and is great just needs time and more work but I am sure will improve in time. They told us they are building a gym within the makeover which will be very nice as we found you need some exercise after all the drives just sitting as we are very active people and as the pool was not very warm due to the cold weather it was very restricted for exercise I resorted to work out videos on my iPad! The food is ok, the breakfast could be better but I don't eat much at breakfast as I eat fruit a lot but there was not much variety and the other cooked food was all very stodgy. Overall it was what we were expecting average food but hot and welcomed after a long game drive! The Staff made the whole experience, We had a massage in the spa which was wonderful, but does need a makeover! We loved the trip and our stay and Gideon made our holiday perfect we met two wonderful American ladies who share our land cruises and we will now be friends for life so there will always be our memories of Mahali Muzri when we meet up, we even have a what app group called Gideon team! Thank you so much Gideon and the whole team for making our stay incredible! I have never laughed so much when we got stuck in the mud with the lions roaring behind us! 🤩

Our visit Mahali Mzuri was arranged by safarinut.com. There are 12 tents that are elevated above a riverine valley. They are not as huge as we have experienced at other camps but are large enough. Good ensuite with brass bathtubs overlooking the valley. Each tent has its own spacious deck. The camp is in the Motorogi side of the Olare Motorogi conservancy and there is plenty of game to see. There is an open bar, infinity swimming pool, spa and well stocked souvenir shop. I did not use the spa but since it is lower down from the tents it is a great place to get up close to the wildlife in the valley.

We’ve been in several different countries on safari but this was definitely amongst the top we have experienced. Fabulous views from all around the camp, 5 star quality accommodation, with fabulous dining and exceptional staff who catered for all we could ask for. Special thanks to Letitia who made sure we were looked after in style at every meal and very soon knew exactly what we liked. Her friendly company at meals made them extra special. Also huge thanks to our amazing safari guides, Levi and Josphat, both first class in every regard, knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure Faisel 1 and 2 saw and experienced all we wanted. Josphat will certainly be an asset and star for the future. We look forward to returning in the hope that both will still be there. Thank you Mahali Mzuri for an unforgettable holiday.

Our recent stay at the Mahali Mzuri Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving us with memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. From the breathtaking landscapes to the impeccable service, every aspect of our experience surpassed our expectations. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the safari, an adventure guided by the exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly duo of Levi and Josphat. Levi, our skilled driver, seemed to have an innate ability to track down the most elusive creatures of the wild. His enthusiasm and passion for the animals were infectious, and under his guidance, we were treated to close encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes, and more. Levi's deep understanding of the local wildlife added a layer of appreciation to each sighting, making our safari not just an excursion but an educational journey. Josphat, our other guide, was equally exceptional. His wealth of knowledge about the animal kingdom, coupled with a genuine love for sharing his insights, made our safari not only thrilling but also intellectually enriching. Josphat's anecdotes and fascinating facts about the animals brought a deeper connection to the wildlife we were privileged to witness. Back at the hotel, the hospitality continued to impress, with a special shoutout to Bob, who was not just a server but an outstanding host. His warm demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care for our well-being enhanced our dining experience. Bob's recommendations and personalized service added an extra touch of luxury to our evenings. The entire staff at Mahali Mzuri demonstrated a commitment to excellence that made our stay truly remarkable. From the moment we arrived until our departure, we were surrounded by a team dedicated to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. As we reflect on our time at Mahali Mzuri, we are filled with gratitude for the unforgettable experiences and the exceptional individuals who made them possible. This is a place where nature, luxury, and genuine hospitality converge to create an unparalleled escape. We eagerly anticipate our return to Mahali Mzuri, eager to once again be immersed in the magic that this exceptional destination offers.

First we should aknowledge our agent Rustom @ Safarinut.com that meticulously planned for us the logistics of our trip to Kenya and to Mahali Mzuri. He made the trip with our 3 little daughters literally as easy as a walk in the park, with a special focus to service quality and safety. In addition he kept in touch during the entire trip to ensure all went smoothly. Our return to Mahali Mzuri turned once again memorable. Just on arrival we witnessed herds of Elephants, Giraffes, and even Hippos grazing around the river in the enchanted Valley below. The game drives were nothing less than spectacular: Levi our experienced guide, helped by the young Maasai Robert, once again made every drive an adventure, never wasting an opportunity to unveil the natural wonders of the Mara. We managed to get 4 out of the big 5 on the first drive... On our return to the camp we were greeted by Johnston armed with a genuine smile and desire to ensure that each day was a unique experience. Last but not least Edison the head chef and his team managed to prepare meals worthy of a Michelin restaurant. The list is actually much longer from our house keeper to Arthur at the Bar and everyone at the camp did they real best to make our stay once again memorable... Asante Sana!

Dear ErnFrag, Asante Sana for your wonderful review and for sharing your incredible experience with us! It sounds as though you had an exciting start to your trip, seeing the wildlife grazing around the river as you arrived at camp – what a welcome! Levi and Robert, like all our guides and trackers, have mastered the art of turning each game drive into a thrilling expedition, unveiling Mara's natural marvels at every turn. Spotting four out of the big five on your first drive? That's like hitting the jackpot, safari-style! I’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to Johnston, Edison, the housekeeping team, and Arthur – they will be over the moon. Here's to more adventures and unforgettable moments under the Kenyan sky. Until next time! Kind Regards, Wilson Odhiambo General Manager wilson.odhiambo@mahalimzuri.virgin.com

My family loved everything about Mahali Mzuri. The Masai Mara was an incredible last stop on our safari, we were amazed at how close we could get to the amazing animals, especially the lions. The resort is just beautiful, the unique decor from local Masai villages was a real highlight. Every meal was perfect and all of the staff was just wonderful, especially our guide Gideon. Highly recommend!

There are just not enough superlatives to describe this 'beautiful place' as the name translates very appropriately into English. There is some sort of sweeping canvas like structure to your room, but that is where the similarity with tented accommodation ends. The 'tent' has an entrance door that leads into an enormous suite consisting of an entrance hallway, huge bedroom and luxury bathroom with both shower and bath situated to look over the savanna. On one occasion we could see the Dik Dik pride come down from the hills, cross the river to rest in the long grass, without leaving our room. At Mahali you are allocated your own waiter, who soon becomes much more than that. We had asked for David, who had looked after us before and the return visit didn't disappoint. Your waiter soon becomes a full on butler and friend, looking after your every need and I mean every - including Champagne should you want it to celebrate this amazing experience. The food and drink are what you might expect in any fine dining restaurant and it is always served with an infectious Maasai smile. Of course the main reason for a safari is to observe the wildlife and Mahali delivers on this front in bucket loads. It is set in the Olare Motorogi conservancy, which is a partnership between the lodge holders and the Maasai landowners. Here the African wildlife is protected in return for a contribution that is made for each guest staying. It is a partnership that has meant that an abundance of game and predators can be found here. Newton, our driver, was a genius at reading the signs as to what might happen, which led to us witnessing a lion hunt that brought down 3 Wildebeest and the privilege of spending several hours with the Leopardess Tito and her 2 small cubs. The roaring of Lions at night and the Rock Hyraxes jumping on the tent certainly gets the heart racing and ensures that you are up before daylight to begin another early morning game drive, with poncho and hot water bottle for company. Early starts and sundowners in the bush as the light fades adds the finishing touches to this wonderful place with all its incredible staff especially when they go out of their way to deliver this out in the bush with Maasai dancers. If you are looking for a traditional style safari tent with rustic charm, then Mahali probably isn't the right place for you, but if you want high end luxury, staff who are attentive to your every need and an abundance of wildlife then I cannot recommend this place too highly.

The people (especially Wilson, Nancy and, our amazing guide, Bettie) made our visit wonderful! Wilson arranged two amazing evenings for our dinners! Nancy gave us lovely, and much needed after 29 hrs of travel, massages. Bettie was beyond above and beyond with 10+ years of experience. She took us to a leopard, three lion prides (one with seven cubs—three very small), of course zebras, giraffe, elephants, Buffalo, hippos and so much more! It was truly magical and I was personally thrilled to learn that Bettie “broke the glass ceiling” to become a female guide! She also provided a hot water bottle for our chilly, early morning game drives—so considerate—and wine for the afternoon drives. We also saw animals outside our glamor tent. A perfect start for our East Africa visit!
