Accommodation and staff and food were second to none, If in London this would be up there with the top hotels an all points. Great location, wildlife all around you, hippos sing you to sleep at night, and the drives are spectacular, it just keeps on happening, everywhere u look its a life and death struggle, real life in the... more

Where do you start...Genuine 100% authentic safari experience in the best part of the Maasai Game reserve. No electricity in the tents ( just paraffin lamps - although a room is available at reception to charge cameras, video recorders etc). Would suggest trying to get a tent overlooking the Mara river so you can view the crocs and hippos at... more

Our one night stay at the Governor's Camp was a last minute booking having already done a 4 day safari to Tsavo East, West & Amboseli but we just knew that if we didn't do the masai mara we'd go home regretting it. We used the same Safari company we'd used for the road safari - (F King Tours &... more

We stayed for 4 nights at Governors' Main Camp and had a great time, but it took a while to get used to the size of the camp. We are more used to (very) small safari camps and in comparison, Governors' is huge with some 37 tents! Arriving from the airstrip, you immediately see the parking lot filled with safari... more

Arrived at end of Sept 09 for a 3 night stay and after reading a few critical reviews we were very pleasantly surprised. Of course the tent is not hi tech luxury, it would lack atmosphere if it was. We had tent 27 on the river, patio with lovely view with chairs and table and lantern for nights, near amenities... more

During our trip to Kenya, we stayed at Aberdare Country Club and on the grounds of Lewa Conservatory, but Governor's Camp was the most amazing part of our trip. The service and food was good, and the game rides delivered all that was promised and more. I would also highly recommend the hot air balloon excursion, a spectacular view and... more

We had an amazing time at Governors. Saw all the big 5 (leopard at Crater Lake) and many more. Watched a crossing and literally saw 100's and 1000's of wildebeasts. The tents are amazing and the staff fantastic. We were treated to a Masai Blessing for our 25th anniversary - felt so privileged. Thank you to all at Governors -... more

Pros - sensational food (the best that I had in 2 weeks of safari), in general very professionally and smoothly run, great location within Masai Mara, hippos/elephants right outside our tent at night, very good service from general/waiter/housekeeping staff, comfortable accommodation, management was mostly good, I think it was good value as they had a special on (25% off). Cons... more

A friend who is working in Nairobi recommended the Governors Camp as he said 'when the BBC are filming in the area, that's where they stay'. It was a great choice. The food was ok, but not great and the tent (en-suite with proper beds) was a little past its best, but we were there to see the wildlife. We... more

We were 3x couples who stayed in Governors for 4 nights...what an experience! From our arrival up to leaving we had a fantastic time. The tents are basic but very clean and well maintained considering it's in the heart of Africa! Don't expect the Hilton, it's a tented camp and nature will make up for the lost detail.. The satff... more
