I stayed here for a long weekend in the off season when I was in Kenya working in spring of 2011. I thought it exceeded my expectations! Rooms were clean, atmosphere was relaxing, setting was amazing with the hippos! The resort was not busy and my friend and I ended up having private game drives. There was even a nice... More

The hippo bay is magnificent! We can observe them till we're tired of seeing hippos. At night there are special viewing location for tourists to see the hippos go on land and leave for grass. But the hotel is not in the right location for safari in masai mara. Our driver took us out for the entire day without seeing... More

The resort is located in a beautiful area right infront of the Mara River where hippos gather. However, that is the only good thing about this place. Our room, despite being newly weds and having informed the place as such had two twin beds. The beddings were old as were the towels. The bathrooms have not been touched probably since... More

Thanks for the comment, however actual facts are not reflected, first off the Lodge does have hot showers and that was an isolated case where a block of a room had a problem with the heating system which was fixed and in the mean time you were moved to different rooms. As for the food there it's untrue that a... More

Let me start with the best part, which is the hippo pool right in front of the bar, the Resort is an average resort, we stayed in the standard room (room 42). The bed is comfortable, room is small but cozy, but never triple share the room. The bathroom was the big disappointment, it was really small also though it... More

me and my sister stayed there October 2011. As we arrived a baboon walked across the entrance to the hotel....what a welcome!! Lovely helpfull and friendly staff, who welcomed us with a drink and a view of around 50 hippos having a rest in the amazing mara river. The place was quiet and calm, there was the odd noise out... Great place to stay, we were spoilt and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Lovely location next to the Mara river with all its hippos (make sure you have ear plugs as they can be quite noisy at night!). Great time on safari as well, just the... More

Considering its remote location, I was thoroughly impressed with its friendly staff and excellent food. I travelled here in August 2011 with my boyfriend, and everyone on the staff seemed to know what was on our agenda. That said, they were very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, including placing us in a private... More
