I have been a lion researcher for many years yet have never had such a fantastic lion experience before. The conservancy, community and Porini Lion team have created a safe haven for lions and as a result of this lion numbers have increased. You drive out of camp and lions are everywhere! The best part of it is that you... more

I've been on more safaris than I can count, and stayed at more "green" places than I can remember. These guys have managed to take the "best" of everything, and put it into practice in a simple, elegant and understated manner. They provide a great experience inside their camp, and around the conservancy. If you want high speed internet and... more

This eco-lodge tent camp is really fantastic. There were great people there - both employees (local Maasai) and fellow travelers were fantastic. Flying in/out works out perfectly and the rest is simply taken care of. more

This Porini camp has the nicest accommodations of the 4 Porini camps we visited, with the largest tent and bathroom of all. The food was a little inconsistent, not as fresh as the other camps the first night but then terrific the next two nights. Probably we hit camp just as the new food supply came in. When this camp... more

We have been to Kenya 3 times in all now and prior to this had stayed in lodges, the last time being Keekorok. We loved Kenya so much we wanted to do something that would get us on the ground in the real Kenya with real people. Porini Lion was the third camp after Amoseli and Rhino in Ol Pojeta... more

This Porini camp seemed just a little extra friendly. The camp host made a point to inquire about any dietary needs. Our walking tour, guided by the colorfully-dressed tribesmen, included an impromptu spear throwing lesson for each hopeful guest. After a long late night session around the campfire, tent stewards materialized out of the shadows at the very moment we... more

I have now stayed in a handful of lodges in and around the Mara. Porini is as good as it gets. Its location is perfect. Being on a conservancy, not only does it support the local population, but it affords better game viewing. In the Mara you have to share your lions with multiple other vehicles. In the conservancy, you... more

Our second trip to Lion Camp since 2007. For the past 7 years, we have become big fans of the Porini bush camp concept and private conservancy safari experience - pretty hard to beat !. We were stunned to see how much more wildlife had moved into the conservancy in a short 2-year time span. We think that Olare Orok... more

I have reviewed Amboselli and Rhino camps already and all the superlatives apply equally to Lion Camp. Small camp, good sized tents, good food and company and the guides are just marvellous. We had Mishak and Stephen, looking splendid in their Maasai clothes and they found everything there was to be found (except a 'kill' but you can't have everything!).... more

We chose this safari based on the African Safari Planner and its comments re Gamewatcher's Safari. Coomunication was excellent ahead of time. Easy to book on line. Everything ran as planned. The camp is in a conservancy adjacent to the Masai Mara and therefore there are fewer vehicles than in the Masai Mara itself. This allowed us to view the... more
