I had very mixed feelings about staying in a Youth Hostel after nearly 24 hours of travelling, but I was totally surprised by the Wangfujing. The room was spacious with a brand new bathroom, power shower, and western toilet. The bar/cafe was welcoming, cosy and the beer was cold! The corridor could be a little noisy at night, but a pair of ear plugs soon sorted that. This hostel is also only a 5 min walk from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. The staff are super friendly and helpful and very keen to practice their English - great if your Mandarin is limited! I would thoroughly recommend this place. Bear in mind - it is a hostel, not a hotel, so if you only ever go 5 star, you won't like this, but as a veteran hosteller, I would rate this highly! more
