We stayed at the Merchantel with a Gate1 travel tour. The hotel was very nice. Clean rooms, with hairdryer, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, etc. Beds everywhere we stayed in China are very small and HARD, but I'm thinking unless you are at a Ritz Carlton that's how it is everywhere. This hotel is fairly new (which is why cab drivers don't know where it is) and it may have been converted from a previous building to house tourists for the Olympics. There's not much around the hotel but the subway station is approximately a 10-15 minute walk away. The rooms are standard - clean and impersonal. This is not a... more
