I've stayed at this hotel this past winter on a business trip. Traditionally, I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt, China New World, and the brand new Regent hotel (during the Olympics). This is about my 3rd time staying here but the first time in at least 6-7 years. First off, Pros: Good location and access to Wangfujing shopping. It's about... more

My son and I stayed at The Peninsula Hotel, Beijing, in December 2008. We spent more time in our rooms than we had intended because the weather was so bitterly cold. But we enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodations were luxurious and the service superb. From the down comforters, to the deep tub, to the temperature and lighting controls,... more

In the last 3 years, I have stayed at this property 4 times, and will return again soon. I also stay at the Shangri-La in Beijing, but I find this location much better. The rooms are great, the Executive Lounge is perfect, and the food in the restaurants is a bit pricey, but excellent. The staff has always been there... more

This trip to Beijing was purely for business, and based on recommendations and previous experience with the Peninsula in Bangkok I opted for the Peninsula. I must say, it is a good hotel (on the border to a great one too at times). Service is on the mark.. however, there was something 'missing'. It was not the Peninsula in Bangkok,... more

I stayed at this hotel twice in the last two months. The first time it was just an overnight trip, and perhaps I only noticed some of the drawbacks of the hotel - chiefly the room sizes, which were designed in a different age when rooms (in the early 1990s) were not expected to be huge in deluxe hotels like... more

We just spent 5 nights at the Peninsula Beijing because I got a great rate on the room with breakfast and wanted a safe and comfortable place since it was our first time in Beijing. It is in a solid location, close to everything. Unfortunately our first 24 hours there were a bit unsettling. We checked into in a deluxe... more

It is supposed to be one of the best hotel in Beijing, but we were very disappointed. We reserved a king size bed, instead we were given 2 double beds when we checked in. It took almost 30 minutes to check us in. No tissue paper, no tooth brush, was supplied in the room, running out of toilet paper was... more

The Peninsula Beijing is old and tired. The rooms are small and the furniture is old. Bath and shower are in one unit. The bath is dirty and dark and leaks all the time. Tiles are cracked and toilet is marked. Lift lobby’s carpet is badly stained and smelly. Breakfast spread is poor and the service is bad. Cold tea... more

Location of this hotel was only 5 min walk from the main shopping area and around 15 mins to the Forbidden City, around 20 mins to Tiananmen Square. The hotel overall is excellent but for the price, the room was a bit small with a very small bathroom. Also be careful of the sippery floor in the bathroom - quite... more

Our usual hotel in Beijing was full so our travel agents put us into The Peninsula. As you would expect from such an establishment the staff/service and rooms were impeccable and the whole place exudes an atmosphere of luxury living. The hotel is also very conveniently located for shopping/sightseeing. The downsides though are the so-called Lobby Bar and the Jing... more
