It is a just 3 star hotel. It is expensive considering what you can be served. For someone who visit Beijing first, it may look like beautiful hotel with garden. But for someoe who visit Beijing frequently, it is whole kitsch. Full of useless furniture. The staffs are unfrendly. The don't say hello or say 'ni hao'. Especially the girl... More

I stayed for the weekend at Bamboo Garden and highly recommend this to travelers wanting a real Chinese hotel in a traditional Beijing neighborhood. The hotel is a short walk from the Guoloudajie (Drum Tower) subway stop and less than 15 minutes walk from the Houhai/Lakes area. Staff are friendly, Wifi worked well, and there is a western breakfast served... More

I booked the Bamboo Garden twice in 2011. First time for touring with with two grown daughters and a granddaughter. Its central location in Beijing is important from a tour standpoint. Second stay was with another adult. Both times, our suite was located on th first floor, facing the hutong alley. It was perfectly acceptable to us, as we spent... More

I stayed here for a couple nights at the end of a trip in China. The location is very good; a short walk from the subway, nearby the Bell and Drum tower and shops and restaurants, and close to the highway to get to the airport or out of the city. The room was very nicely furnished and had a... More

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It's north of the Forbidden city near the Guloudaije subway station (5 min walk). Although it's in the middle in the capital, the place is very quite. I got room 104, wich was great. It was clean, extra weather service, newspaper, local calling for free, private Pc in the room and Wifi. Though... More

Got a fantastic room with a view on the garden. Internet was slow and google even slower (as usual in this country) Didn't eat there though (many great places around) More

A very Chinese hotel and a very popular place for dining by non-resident Chinese. Basically comfortable, basically clean and tidy, and very quiet, the hotel offers a good base for exploring Beijing. About the only concession to the western traveller was an English speaking receptionist, elsewhere in the hotel the lack of English was a problem, particularly in the restaurant... More

Just stayed 3 nights. Overall, very good. Location is great. Lots of interesting things within immediate walking distance (5 mins.), Drum Tower is very close, subway 5 min. walk away; we walked home from the Forbidden City (30 mins.?). Charming property, as other reviewers have described. Room was well decorated although a little small, not great for having to do... More

We stayed 2 nights - very peaceful. Clean and comfortable. One minor problem with some of the dinner being served cold but that was soon remedied. Gave us a good start to our holiday. More

We stayed here 4 nights while in Beijing. Once you enter the grounds of the hotel it's easy to forget there's a noisy, bustling city right outside. There are several buildings that hold the sleeping quarters. It was very clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. English was spoken at the main desk and the dining area... More
