We traveled as a couple with our 12 year old daughter, and enjoy the small, quirky places with a little charm and personality. What a disappointment! First, Do Not even consider staying here if there are more than two persons in your room, even children. The cot for the third person (at 150 RMB/night) was unusable -- most of the... more

We like to stay at little off beat hotels when we are traveling. Haoyuan Hotel is one of those. It is quiet and quaint. It is also totally overpriced for what you get, which is minimal service, bugs in the room, and a mediocre breakfast. There were 3 of us in the room. We required an extra bed. We have... more

My husband had previously stayed at the Haoyuan in 2007 when on a business trip, and was suitably impressed, such that he was keen to stay there again when on holiday. We negotiated a good rate via email of 600 yuan per night (approx £60) for a standard room. The hotel is situated in a very ordinary street, and being... more

My wife and I couldn't have been happier with the Haoyuan. The courtyard style was great, just a place to relax and have a beer after walking and walking all day long. It was truely a little getaway every time we entered. The front desk was very helpful writing address in Chinese even though their English wasn't that good. We... more

Thanks to BA technical problems we were 24 hours late to Beijing so missed a night in this great littel guesthouse-just two courtyards with rooms round. You can sit out and see the sky-no high rise in sight. The littel restaurnat will open if you want it to, but you can walk to local restaurants. teh rooms are lovely-old fashioned,... more

Unfortunately the HAOYUAN didn't live up to it's hype. * I was looking forward to a scenic hutong setting - in fact it is located in a non descript side road, opposite a building site. * At reception, when requesting the use of a WC (our room wasn't ready and we had just come from Xian on the overnight train)... more

Visited Haoyuan late april and stayed for four nights. I had a standard room in the outer yard fully furnished in traditional Chinese style complete with very comfortable beds with silk beddings. Modcons consisted of a TV - only national channels and a modern bathroom which was very nice. The outer yard lent it's magic with some 40 red lanterns... more

Stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of April. It was overall the best place we stayed in our 2 week holiday despite the place being in the midst of renovations. We initially booked an upgraded room at the back courtyard however on arrival the staff apologised saying their renovations were not yet finalised in that area and although... more

Wonderful little hotel - we had a room in the back courtyard and it was truly lovely. Close to the subway - so we had no problems getting around. The included breakfast was delicious and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The only reason I give a 4 instead of a 5 is that we were a bit chilly... more

This hotel deserves a whole lot of credit, as it was one of the main reasons why our trip to Beijing in September 2007 was so pleasant and successful. We must say that this is the most charming and unique hotels we have ever stayed in. The hotel itself is a bit worn on the outside, but the very nicely... more
