The building was big. The lobby was impressive .The atrium was three story high with a beautiful, colorful and large chandelier. You could see two wrap around balconies for the second and third floor. On the third balcony, there was a gallery of paintings. We were in a group tour and the hotel was the tour operator's selection. The room... More

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as a group of 20 people. Downstairs staff did a good job. Breakfasts were ok. Rooms need an update and the beds are very hard. The main problem is the bar on the 27th floor. Bit hard to find, but when you get up there there the decor and the views are... More

The first impression is that this is indeed a grand hotel, with a remarkable entrance hall and timber railings decorating the lower floors. The establishment is large and obviously well-used but the management have not instigated sufficient maintenance to keep pace, resulting in rooms which are rather tired and irritating. There were cracked tiles, mould around the bath, a stained... More

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. The room was clean and had the biggest bed we've ever seen... about the width of 2 queen size beds! We were on a China Star Holiday tour and out of the 4 hotels we stayed in, this rated #4. No complaints it's just that the other 3 hotels were more like 5*... More

The hotel is really spacious, its lobby, restaurant and the rooms too. However, they need to improve on the services provided during breakfast time. The hotel seems do not have sufficient man power to clean up the table for the next guest during breakfast hour. The choices of the breakfast buffet is kind of limited and repeated on daily basis.... This hotel does try to live up to its name – grand. It is huge and clearly caters to large groups of tourists and student groups. Many of the staff speak excellent English. The multi-level dining area is quite large and comfortable as is the breakfast buffet, one of the better ones in Beijing. The lobby is large and impressive... More

The worst thing I can say about this Hotel is that the beds were VERY hard. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It is a short walk to the dirty market and a small local grocery store. Had an easy time getting anywhere we needed from the hotel location.

Travelling in a group, the chosen hotel is always a surprise. The name of the hotel and the lobby are quite impressive, the rooms are large, but need urgent renovation, especially the dirty old carpets. Old cigarette-smoke everywhere. So not good for nonsmoker. Windows do not properly close, so we needed to use ear plugs during the night. Buffet-breakfast was... More

I stayed here as part of a tour...and yes, there are many tour groups at this hotel. The lobby is very grand and the front desk staff had a basic understanding of English. Although everyone in our group had requested a non-smoking room...we were all placed on a smoking floor (there was an ashtray in the bathroom). Our room was... More

Impressive imperial style lobby. Grand old fashioned elegance. The room was large and comfortable, although the beds were too firm. Lots of variety at the breakfast buffet, but there are lineups for food sometimes. We had dinner at the lobby restaurant, and the prices were expensive, compared to local prices for a meal. The food quality was poor/mediocre. There are... More
