this cozy and convenient B&B is a great alternative to get a feel for the real Beijing. It is located in an authentic hutong area steps from Beihai Park, the tourist attractions around Qianhai, the neighborhood of the princes' palaces, and the Drum and Bell Towers. The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and Qianmen are within walking distance; the nearest Metro... More

My sister and I stayed at the Maoer, and all the wonderful things people have said and described are absolutely true. Great location, Angela showed us how to use bus and metro, and the B&B is also close to a street where we could also take taxis, and to a lake with many restaurants. The breakfasts were wonderful, the rooms... More

There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said, but I think it is worth repeating. This is a wonderful place to stay in Beijing. The rooms are lovely and super clean, the B & B is quiet and smoke free, the food is great, the location is good and Angela and Julia are so helpful. It was... More

The Mao'er B&B is a great three guest room B&B in a lively hutong area.  Outstanding management too.  We recommend the deluxe room but others are just fine.  The furnishings were made in the old style by the uncle of manager Angela Wang.   Angela also has a list of contacts and places to visit and eat--if you need suggestions. Breakfasts... I have stayed at Maoer 28 several times, and the location is great for getting to many of the Must See places in Beijing, The manager and assistant manager do a great job. My last stay did have some disappointment, because throughout the B and B are English and Chinese signs NO SMOKING. Sadly this policy is not enforced! Some... More

One of the best run B&B's we have stayed at. Angela provides you with not only a well furnished and clean room but with help and advice on how to get where you want to go. Then there is the beautiful breakfast cooked by Julia, yum! We stayed when it was snowing and inside it was warm, our room and... More

This is an absolutely fabulous B&B. A must stay for anyone in Beijing. Angela is a perfect hostess and can arrange anything for you, e.g., great value side trips, taxis, restaurant suggestions, etc., and prepare breakfast as early as 5:30 am, if needed. She is also a great repository of information on Beijing and China. But the excellence only starts... More

On our arrival in China this quiet little Hutong hotel (there are only 4-5 rooms) felt like a sanctuary to my wife and I in this chaotic city. The hotel is run by a very pleasant lady called Angela and she made us feel right at home. On our first night she suggested to us a great Peking Duck restaurant... More

We stayed 4 nights in November at the Maoer Hutong and had a great experience. We were traveling with our 1.5 year old so booked the family suite. It was very spacious. The traditional hand carved furniture in the room was beautiful and we enjoyed experiencing life in a traditional Chinese neighborhood. The hutong areas are so fascinating. I really... More

My wife and I stayed in this lovely little B&B in June 2011. We were picked up on time at the airport by Angela, who was very friendly and spoke English very well. The neighbourhood of the hotel is lovely and within walking distance of several of the major tourist attractions. The rooms were lovely, clean and modern and the... More
