Stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Location is not the most convenient as the hotel is built on a hill within a public park. If you like waking up to the sounds of birds and join the people doing tai-chi in the park, then you will enjoy your stay. Major shopping and eating is located in Jiefangbei district, and that's about 20 minutes away by public bus or local taxi.
We arrived at the hotel from the airport very early in the morning - 2am. The front lobby was shut and all lights were off. The local guide had to wake the sleepy front desk staff and check-in took about 20 minutes. We had to pay for our first night in cash as the hotel did not accept credit card guarantees.
The staff explained that it was a standing instruction from their banks right before the Beijing Olympics. We found this rather strange, but we didn't argue since all we wanted to was to just go to bed. Since we only paid for the 1st night at check-in, we found that we were subsequently locked...
