On a first trip to Hong Kong with my wife we took a risk of staying at Abeo, which is located in Aberdeen on the south-side of Hong Kong Island. I'm extremely glad we did - the hotel featured a lovely room, extremely friendly and helpful staff and was very well located for public transport. There are lots of little touches at Abeo that really make a difference - some complimentary snacks on arrival, the little bowl of mints at the entrance, complimentary umbrellas by the door if it's raining, and a smile from the chatty, friendly staff every time you come in or head out.
A quick bus ride through the Aberdeen tunnel takes you to Admiralty, Causeway Bay and Central, and another bus takes you very easily to things like Stanley, Repulse Bay and Ocean Park. If you want to see as much of Hong Kong as possible, and get a little bit out of the tourist zone, then I strongly recommend trying this hotel out!
