My October 1 birthday coincided with the Chinese national holiday and this hotel near Barkhor Square is very popular with Chinese tourists. It was 100% occupied. We use China Highlights since 2004 and they snagged us a room on the first floor at our request. On this second trip to Lhasa, we chose a Tibetan style accommodation within walking distance... More

Definitely the best choice at this budget. A cozy Tibetan-style hotel (rather like homestay I think), very friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a nice social corner at G/F. Basic room with a small washroom, good to have hot water but could be better if warming light (as found in other guesthouse/ hostel) and shower curtain can be provide. Not easy... More

Stayed at the Tashi Choten for 4 nights and have no complaints...the wonderful staff met us on the main street (it is a little tricky to find) and insisted on carrying our bags through the rain to the hotel. Staff go out of their way to help you and are genuinely kind and warm. Breakfast was Chinese style and pretty... More

This hotel is a little hard to find so the best thing is to call them when you arrive and they will pick you up somewhere. Usually you are with your guide when you arrive so he can make the call as they don't speak English that well. But they are really nice, very young staff, often giggling around and... More

Book this based on some good reviews in Trip Advisor and I have no idea how. To it's benefit the rooms were clean and tidy. It was more the noise and general attitude of the staff that was the problem. Every night we were woken up at around midnight by the staff loudly laughing and joking in the room they... More

This inn was wonderful. The location was great. The rooms were unique, decorated in traditional Tibetian style, clean and there was hot water for showers. My friend was suffering from altitude sickness the first day and they were so helpful and even arranged for a Japanese interpreter for her. Breakfasts were simple and tasty. When we were delayed flying out... More

we booked this hotel through elong because i couldn't figure out how else to book it, we paid 260rmb for a double room with private bathroom. this was the most welcoming hotel we've ever been to in all of our travels, i don't think they get westerners staying there very much because we felt like celebrities. everyone wanted photos with... We stayed at this hotel for 4nights. All the staffs are friendly, helpful, humble and always with a smile on their face. The location is also very good although a bit confusing when we 1st arrived. Rooms are quite basic(love the paintings on the wall), without air-con but you can ask for a electric heater if its too cold. Washing... More

I travel a lot and this is probably the most memorable experience I have had in years. The staff in the hotel is wonderful, friendly and caring. The place is gorgeous, with an unbelievable view from the rooftop. What is also very important is that the hotel is ran and owned by Tibetans even though the manager is Chinese. Please... More
