We stayed here for 6 nights while we were visiting Singapore. We found the hotel online and saw that the location was good and the price was perfect. Yes, the rooms are very small, but they are clean and well presented. While we were there we did change rooms to make sure that we got as much space as possible.... more

Searching for an affordable boutique hotel in Singapore was more difficult than I imagined; at the time Hotel 1929 seemed to be a good compromise between style, comfort and price. I was a little uncertain about the location but it seemed reasonably close to a metro stop (it is, at most a 10 minute walk). I arrived after 9 in... more

As the title says, this place would be a little gem if the price were about 25% less. As it stands they're charging for something they can't offer. The rooms are absolutely tiny. And although that didn't bother me personally, it will bother many (most?), and it really should factor into the price. The "complementary" internet didn't work half the... more

I chose this hotel because I was travelling alone and it had such good reviews on trip advisor. The reviews were spot on, I loved it! I had a beautifully designed compact and cosy single room. It was clean and bright and did not feel cramped at all. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel had a retro... more

This hotel is located in Chinatown, so the location is great if you come to Singapore to party. If you like an authentic atmosphere, this is the place for you. The hotel is in an old colonial building, and plenty of old photo's on the wall testify to Singapore's history. Also, the owner is a collector of designer chairs, which... more

This is swishy, tidy little boutique hotel in a 1920s building on the edge of Chinatown. Pluses: great staff, free Internet and buffet breakfast, outdoor jacuzzi. Minuses: some rooms very small, somewhat overpriced. I stayed in two rooms here - one was quite cramped. The friendly staff gave me a bigger room on the second night for the same rate.... more

In December 2008 I took a tour from Bangkok to Singapore - which ended at The Royal Peacock Hotel - one night - as part of the tour. I wanted to stay an extra night but the rates were too high so I looked for an alternative. I stumbled upon Hotel 1929 and I'm so pleased I did. When we... more

We decided to write a review while searching for a hotel for a new trip in December/January 2008/09 and recalled this hotel. There is cheap and terrible and expensive and terrible. We felt on balance that 1929 falls into the latter. It is a a soulless refurbished building with rooms so small that it was uncomfortable for our five days... more

Staff was friendly and helpful... Rooms are a bit small but well-designed... If you can live with the fact that the bathroom has glass walls (and that the toilet is sorta in the shower area), it's pretty nice... more
