I pass through Singapore a couple of times a year travelling between Europe and Australia and the PERAK HOTEL is my first choice. I've stayed at far more luxurious hotels in Singapore but frankly for me the expense is not worth it. I've also stayed in other budget hotels there and most are just too basic or located where I don't want to be. The PERAK, for me, gets the balance of comfort, convenience of location, cleanliness and price just right. This is not a new hotel, in fact I believe that it's a heritage listed building, so the rooms while not modern have a charm of their own. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is basic but good, the public area is clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic right on the edge of little India and a ten minute walk from Bugis street. I took the MRT from Changing airport, cost is $ 2-70, changed at Bugis junction station and came out of the station less than 100 Mtrs. from the hotel. There's an old saying "you get what you pay for" and in my view, given the cost of hotel accommodation in Singapore, the PERAK offers excellent value for money.

Booked this hotel via one of the well known booking sites for 3 nights on the basis that the hotel was 3 star. Well, it isn't - its a 2 star at very best. Pros: some of the staff were friendly and helpful (only reason I didn't give it 1 star), close proximity to some of sights. Cons: tiny, aged rooms badly in need of refurbishment, stardard rooms aren't available in a single, large bed format for couples (despite what the booking sites might indicate), TV that simply doesn't work (we booked 2 rooms, TV didn't work in either - when I asked for it to be fixed, I was given "so sorry" with obvious insincerity), ancient elevator that was scary to get into (we used it only twice, once when we took our luggage to our rooms and the second time when we took our luggage down to check out), having to commit the day before to one of 3 breakfast shifts (7.30 - 8.30, 8.30 - 9.30, 9.30 - 10.30) as the breakfast area wasn't big enough to cater for all guests at one sitting, loud and persistent noise of nearby construction that started very early morning. To say that my expectation on booking a 3 star hotel (so apparently self described) were not met would be an understatement. I definitely will not be returning and recommend that you don't if you're looking for 3 star accommodation.

Singapore has one of the most expensive hotels in the world so if you are just looking for good and affordable accommodation, then this boutique hotel fits the bill. All the pluses (good location, near to mrt, clean bed, good and friendly staff etc) have already been mentioned. The negatives? Nothing major for me. As long as you manage your expectations, you should be fine. Think budget airlines (no frills). Thanks JiaWen and your team for a very nice stay. Will be back..

Perak hotel is a reasonably priced accommodation option for travelers who are expecting to be on the move all day and come to the hotel mostly for rest. Very helpful staff. The location is very close to Little India with easy access to Metro station and bus stop. Total value for money. Look for deals on Trip Advisor or other related portals.

good value and location, particularly for a wide selection of shopping and eating opportunities. The MRT is on.y about 24 m from the htel so access around town is very easy. THe street is very picturesque with old shop-house architecture, had a great time sitting out and sketching some of the street scenes in the area.

I’ve reviewed countless hotels here on TripAdvisor and elsewhere and I tend to see things from the positive side, however, Perak Hotel ‘deserves’ the one-star rating. I only stayed here for one night (for almost 200 Australian dollar - it was Formula 1 weekend) and hardly slept because of the constant noise. It wasn’t even noise from other guests or from outside, but from the building itself. It seems a combination of their A/C system, piping and probably some other poor choices but the result is a constant cacophony of annoying sounds that are loud enough to make earplugs useless (yes, I tried). Furthermore, the rooms are very old, not clean, no windows, have no normal blankets (and the super thin blankets they do provide had a bunch of holes in it), no reliable WiFi, etc. Breakfast was basic but not terrible. One positive thing though, the staff was friendly and helpful.

No variety in BF, who eats fried rice early morning, apart from that toast , jam butter, tea coffee , eggs, cut fruit.best thing is MRT is just couple of meters away and the hotel is located in little India so its surrounded with restaurants which are open 24 hrs. hotel staff at the front office was very helpful , they will explain you each and every thing about places to see and how to go and mode of transport also. do not purchase MRT card if you are a family bcos taking a taxi will be cheaper . MRT card is good for short travelling.but going to jurong bird park or zoo taking a cab is cheaper and quicker only 22 minutes but MRT then bus will take 1 hr 45 min to reach from little india.in that manner staff was really helpful to guide us and how we can save few dollars.i am really thankful to the front office staff of perak hotel.

Stayed in perak hotel during my second visit to Singapore for 3 day trip. I stayed alone this time. But i will try my best to cover family who are looking for good hotel. Pros It is very decent and clean hotel. For the price, it good. There is space crunch that reflects in rooms and bathrooms. They are small. But 2 adults and one small kid can sleep for couple of days trip. They kept extra pillows. Water kettle with tea and coffee bags are provided and replaced when they clean up. Shower gel, towels were provided. No water was provided. Breakfast was typical. Bread with butter, jam etc, cut fruits, juice, tea and coffee with milk, omelet etc were options. Menu for each day was displayed. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I spent much time talking to them. I saw only one person is taking care of breakfast. So i managed myself without worrying about delay. They serve till 10.30 am The nearest mrt is below 100 mtrs away i.e rochor mrt. Second one is jalan besar. 250 mtrs away. enough to cover entire Singapore if you are budget traveller and enjoy mtr rides. Bugis, Arab street, little india etc are with in 700 to 800 mtrs. Many food courts are there. Sorry, i can comment only on vegetarian food and non alcoholic products. They allowed me to keep my luggage on my early arrival and after checkout as well. My flight was at 10.30 pm and i checked out at 12pm. Ac control system is in the room Geyser is there for 24/7 hot water. Improvements They need to work really on wifi in room Blanket provided was very thin and i felt very cold. Please provide thicker one. Overall i liked the hotel.

We stayed in Perak hotel. This ia a good budget hotel fie people who want to spend moat of the time outside sightseeing and come back to hotel in late night. One good thing about this hotel is its proximity with Rochor MRT station which is hardly a minute walk from hotel. This helped us staying outside exploring Singapore late in evening without having to worry about returning to the hotel. One thing that can be improved though is their choice of vegetarian breakfast which we found was very limited. Other than that I think this hotel turned out to be good place for stay in Singapore. One more general thing I want to point out is that bathrooms in typical Singapore hotels are smaller. Perak hotel is no different.
