This was our first stop during our week stay in Chile. Santiago was a stopover for us, but this hostel served the perfect place to lay our heads. It's charming and about 5 blocks from a bunch of restaurants and bars. We felt safe walking and the staff was helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The hostel itself... More

We stayed here on two occasions (the beginning and then end)during our 5 week holiday in South America. The location was very convenient and the staff really helpful and friendly. They organised our airport pickup and had many tours we could book from the hostel. The rooms were clean and our first room very spacious. We thought the atmosphere at... More

The location off Plaza Italia is convenient to the metro and pleasant neighborhoods. Rio Amazonas is located next to the Argentinian Embassy. The hostal is staffed by exceptionally helpful English speakers. The hostal was once a very large old home with an interior courtyard. The owners family has filled the home with their lovely art. The room I had was... More

This was our first accommodation in South America and we were not sure what to expect. We were looking for economical, clean comfortable rooms for two people and luggage for a four month holiday. We found the place clean, the breakfasts adequate and the staff helpful. The rooms were inadequate for our needs, rather dark and cramped.

I stayed here for two weeks getting ready for a three month adventure around South America. I speak no Spanish. From the Manager to the housekeepers, the staff went way out of their way to make me feel at home. They all spoke good English and were friendly, sincere and helpful. I can't say enough good things about them all!... More

The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The place was well decorated, very warm and inviting. We had a room with a private bath, which I'd recommend for this place. The place has more of a "courtyard" feel. Although it doesn't have a courtyard, the hallway is somewhat outside - the hallway isn't totally enclosed so it's got an open... More

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights here on a long week-end getaway in the middle of chilean winter. The setting is original, boho decoration, although it needs freshening up. The disappointing bit was how cold it was. We had a gas radiator but with the high ceilings, it didn't warm up anything! We kept our coats on all the... More

We chose the Rio Amazonas on Plaza Italia because of it's position. It's well located but this means noisy until late in the evening but the traffic starts again early in the morning. The hostel was freezing when we visited in July (winter) but I'm sure that it would be equally cool in summer. The bathroom was damp and it... More
