We too stayed here because it was part of GAP's tour, not because we picked it ourselves. We spent three nights there before and one night after our trip to the Galapagos, and the location is good, within walking distance to some nice restaurants. Because we were there over the election weekend, alcohol wasn't sold the entire weekend, so we... more

This is my favorite place to stay at Quito. Staff is very friendly and they have some special weekend packages if you stay from friday to sunday. Another nice feature is the location of the hotel, near everything in Quito. The hotel's restaurant called "La Canoa" has very good service and delicious ecuadorian food, also the breakfast buffet is great.... more

We stayed a total of 4nights as part of a GAP trip. On our first visit we had rooms on the first and second floors, facing the main street - Rio Amazonas. Young travellers will appreciate that this hotel is right in the midst of the nighclub and restaurant area and the party (and traffic/horn honking) lasts until about 3am... more

Awesome place. Can walk straight down to Parque El Ejido and the big, fun art museum Museo Nacional del Banco Central. Near supermarkets and bakeries for snacks. Breakfast is tasty, fresh and often includes some form of guinea pig. Try it! There's plenty of eggs, potatoes, fruit, cerial, coffee too. At night, downstairs La Canoa is a cheap restaurant/ bar... more

Stayed here for four nights prior to our Galapagos trip and a couple of nights after. Both rooms were stayed in were big and comfortable, the second time we had a corner room which was fantastic. The location is good if you want to stay in the new town, not so great if you want to be in the old... more

We stayed at Rio Amazonas as a launching point at the start of our GAP trip, and then for five more night after our tour. The service was EXCELLENT, the staff friendly, and the prices reasonable. We were booked in a room on a lower floor (1st floor, I think?) -- a request for a higher floor was granted, and... more

Situated in New Town of Quito, the Rio Amazonas provides excellent service and facilities. The rooms are generous with (in my case) firm beds, large TV, safebox, an ensuite with bath and shower. My room was on the 9th floor, which was just below the penthouse, and I found this to be rather noisy with music drifting down until early... more

Hotel Rio Amazonas is absoluely gorgeous, the rooms are large and the breakfast yum. It is not cheap but nor is it the most expensive. For the price, you can not do better. I definitely recommend it. The service was friendly and it is close to restaurants and nightlife. Unfortunately it is a bit of a hike to the old... more

I stayed here as part of a GAP trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. The hotel is excellent value for money. It´s very clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable (my single room actually had a double bed) and the staff are helpful and courteous, and many speak English. You can also store luggage securely for long periods of time... more

The staff are very friendly, helpful, and most speak decent English to be able to communicate effectively. The hotel itself is quite clean, comfortable beds, satellite TV, and and fairly well maintained. If staying there over a weekend, be sure to either wear earplugs or try to get a room on the back side of the hotel--this is because the hotel... more
