This hotel was booked for my by a travel agent. I spent 5 nights there. It is located in the Mariscal area, several blocks away from the restaurants and nightlife. The nearby streets look deserted after dusk, which may be a concern to some. The hotel has a nighttime security guard and the gate is kept padlocked at all times,... more

We stayed at Vieja Cuba four times during a 3 week trip to Ecuador. The staff were very helpful and did their best with their limited English and our non-existant Spanish. Breakfast was basic, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, fresh juice and granola with yoghurt. But it was plentiful and tasty. The rooms were generally small-ish with room for one double... more

This is a difficult hotel to review. It has so much potential that I would like to give it another chance. There is nothing particularly wrong with the hotel but it could be so much better. The physical facility is extremely nice and comfortable. The hotel is in a converted old house which gives it a lot of character. The... more

I stayed here for three nights enroute the Galapagos. The hotel is clean, tastefully decorated, in an older part of town, but close to the airport, good bars, restaurants and local attractions. The staff was very helpful and genuinely friendly, I felt like I was staying in a friends house. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The included breakfast... more

Sixteen of us booked our stay here on our way to the Galapagos. We loved it. It looks like a grand, beautiful home and the receptionist, Mily, always went out of her way to make us comfortable. more

We stayed at this hotel for five nights, in between expeditions spread over two weeks. Excellent accomodations for the price (approximately 75 USD for two people, breakfast included). The staff was very friendly and helpful, and allowed us to store luggage at the hotel between expeditions at no cost. Good security provided via the locked gates and the guard. John more

We stayed at the Vieja Cuba on three occasions over two weeks as we were on a tour that took in the Galapagos and Amazon Basin. Being 15 minutes from the airport was a bonus. The staff there were extremely helpful, even letting us leave some of our belongings at the hotel when we were elsewhere. The fact that there... more

This is a great hotel at a reasonable price. It was a bit of a walk to the colonial part of Quito but a really great room. The staff were really lovely and helpful. I had breakfast included and it was good as well. more

A group of 11 of us stayed for several nights at his hotel and I would not recommend it and would not stay there again. First, the hotel has no elevators and at 9,300 ft. climbing up and down stairs is not a lot of fun. All of our rooms were on the 3rd floor except one which was on... more
