We called the hostel on the bus from Guayaquil to Cuenca and they said it would be 5 dollars a person. We could not have been happier. Once we got to the bus station we found a taxi and went to the address listed in Rough Guide. However, when we got there, the doorman said it would be 10 dollars a person. We realized there was some miscommunication and called the number back. It turns out that Hostal Paredes moved to another location at Serrano and Simon Bolivar. Once we got there, we were led through an adorable courtyard and up some stairs. We had two rooms for 5 people. The rooms were clean and very cozy. Plenty of blankets were provided for cold Cuenca weather. There was a private bathroom in one of the rooms and another bathroom right outside our rooms. The next day, the owner (such a nice man!!!!!) knocked down the door between our rooms so we had one big room for all of us. We LOVED this hostel and Cuenca in general.
