A lovely old-world hotel in a superbly central location in a beautiful town. The food is excellent - worth going here to eat even if you're not a guest. The muzak irritated, but was turned off when I complained and what more can you ask?! All the staff were fantastic. My wife wasn't well and the kitchen made her a... more

This is a marvelous place to stay in Cuenca. The building and garden are very beautiful and comfortable, and it's only a few blocks walking distance to the center of the city. The hotel is sumptuously decorated with Latin American antiques and crafts. The staff were very helpful on all accounts. A nice respite from the somewhat tiring street life.... more

Cuenca is a nice city and a must-see when in Ecuador. The Mansion Alcazar exudes a pleasant old-world charm with lots of attention to detail. We stayed there for two nights on a trip through Ecuador and the Galapagos. The rooms are nicely furnished. We stayed in a room on the ground floor with the door leading to the atrium.... more

We stayed at the Mansion Alcazar for 3 nights and from the time we stepped out of the taxi we were treated very well. Our room was on the ground floor opposite the restaurant. It was a large room with a garden view but was quite dark due to the heavy furnishings. The bathroom was in need of a refurb... more

The Mansion Alcazar was more than I expected. The minute you walk through the front door the friendly staff greets you and makes you feel that you're in your own home. We stayed in the Sirena Suite which we found spacious yet intimate. Coincidentally the fabric they used on the wingback chair in the room was the same that I... more

This is one of the most exquisite hotels I've seen, especially for the price. We began our two-week tour of Ecuador in the lovely and manageable city of Cuenca, and our choice of hotel had a larger than normal impact on the quality of the visit. The entire staff was friendly and helpful without reservation. We received excellent recommendations for... more

Construction work was carried out by the hotel every day and each night - metal cutting, welding, banging, buzzing, inside & out 7.00am till 10.30pm. No warning was given at the time of booking; no warning was given on arrival. The scantest of apologies and a request for patience was made after our first complaint. Our patience ran out on... more

after seeing the photos on tripadvisor on this hotel, I was pretty set on booking this hotel, alas they are not very good at responding to emails, after one response saying a room was available but which type did I want, they didn't respond to my MULTIPLE emails after that given that they only have 14 rooms I finally called... more

My husband, five year old daughter and I stayed here in late June. We were taken with the images and descriptions here on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. Do as others have recommended and book a specific room--we stayed in the Angel Room and were delighted. Not only was the suite enormous with a lovely view of the beautiful... more
