After a long journey from Bolivia, I wanted a clean, warm, and fun hostel for once. I walked around Arequipa's main center where most of the hostels are and found "El Solar de la Macarena" which had just opened that same month (February 2008). The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, gave me great information on what to do and see and good tours/prices. The rooms are nice and quiet, comfortable beds for once! TV, wireless internet, a really nice shared kitchen that has everything. I really enjoyed this hostel, it was hard to leave. It has a cool fountain/lounge area and you can go to the rooftop and hangout too. Highly recommended, definitely nice to stay at a new hostel! more
