This hotel was very quiet and in a good location. We were less than 10 minutes walking distance to the city. I can’t say that this hotel or any other hotel in the area is easy to find on your own so I would make sure you arrange transportation with someone that knows where they are going. Every morning we... More

We stayed at El Balcon and found our stay slightly disappointing. Our immediate impression was quite negative as the service we received in the front desk was very cold and unfriendly. Our room was clean and basic. It straddles the fine line between rustic and old. There was a loud party going on next door until late into the night... More

This bed & breakfast is aptly named: I can't imagine a better view than the sweeping one of Cusco's central quarter, the neighborhoods climbing the surrounding mountains, and the mountains themselves, from the second story's balcony. The place itself is rustic, just the way you want your hotel in Cusco to be: lots of wood, roof beams that copy the... More

After looking in over 8 hotels we find this special place. It's with internal garden. Looks better than the pictures. The view of the city is amazing and I was siting on the balcony for hours and see the deferent lights related the time. Excellent people and service. Recommended Ofer

We traveled in Peru just this month, and did the regular circuit of Andean Gems. We really liked El Balcon, the rooms were rustic, but working: hot water, fridge in the room, lovely balcony to watch the Sun come up. There is a great common area/room, open 24 hsr, with water, hot water for Coca tea, Coffee, and and a nice place... More

Pros: -Nice house-rooms -Small garden -Great communal room -Great staff -Walking distance to plaza de Armas downhill -Great balcony view -Honest: they forgot to give us our change and made a wire to our bank the next day!!! if you want a place with character, great views, and quiet, choose El Balcon. It has a great breakfast and we loved the staff. We had some problems with hot water one night, and a poor tv connection another, but just telling them meant it would be fixed and that means everything. The travel agency associated with it, Green Peru... More

I highly recommend this hotel in Cusco. The site is beautiful. The staff is super accomodating. Prices are slightly higher for the area, but worth it for what you get. A staff member of the hotel met my flight and picked me up from the airport to get me to the hotel. They had a full breakfast included each day... More

I stayed here twice on work trips and was always very happy - the rooms are large and the balcony setting atmospheric - I wouldn´t recommend it for families with toddlers though. The breakfast is very good, but even better is the room it is served in - a great place to also chat or even work in the evenings.... More

What a great place. Minutes away from the Center of town, but yet totally peaceful. What a fantastic view of the city from the balcony . Friendly and very helpful staff for whatever questions we had. Good food. A beautiful garden, very nicely decorated rooms and comfortable beds. They stored our luggage for free and we could travel light to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located at Tambo de Montero 222, Cusco, three blocks from the main plaza or Plaza de Armas. The house was constructed on top of Incan agricultural terraces. Since the Inca era, a Tambo was considered a place of rest for travelers and tradesmen similar to that of a hotel or inn. Official documents for the house, El Balcon, date back to the 1630s and because of its location and architecture it was most likely the house of Don Pedro de Montero de Espinosa, Potuguese merchant. ... more   less
