This hostal has gorgeous outdoor areas with lots of couches to chill out. The rooms are very large & my 1 fault with them is there is only cold water in the sink, no hot water, akward for guys shaving. It is in a lovely location, with lots of nice bars & restaurants around. more

We arrived in Cusco on a very late night bus and after getting a taxi there, we had trouble being heard at the front door. A very grumpy reception man eventually opened the door to us and almost threw our key at us and pointed us towards very steep downwards steps down which we had to mainpulate our suitcases to... more

The rooms are all very different. Some of the bathrooms are absolutely tiny, whereas others are great, with even a sun roof! It gets extremely cold at night, but stand alone heaters can be rented at a price from the reception. It's a bit of a small hike to get to the hotel entrance, and the road leading up to... more

We stayed here for 3 nights before going to Machu Picchu, and 2 nights after. The rooms are spacious with great views. They offer laundry services, with quick return. The rooms were a bit cold, but there are many heavy blankets. Both of the rooms we stayed in have TV/DVD players, and the breakfast room has man DVDs to borrow.... more

We were recommended to stay here based on Moon´s guidebook based on it´s price and quality. As advised, we requested a room with a balcony, view, and on the corner. I asked them three times before arriving, as we booked this months in advance, but when we arrived, we got the first room at the top of the stairs on... more

We made all arrangements by internet and had to pay a deposit in advance. It is located in the San Blas district, near a variety of art shops for tourist shopping, including some high quality shops to find unique pieces. From the street you would never guess the beauty within. The hotel actually has two courtyards. The rooms have carved... more

Found Amaru off of Trip Advisor. There are 2 hostels located very closely together (Amaru I and Amaru II). Both are the same quality. The hostel may have originally been home to a Spanish conquistador (we were told this at the reception). Highlights of this hostel included superb breakfast (fruit, tea/coffee, rolls, margarine, jam, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal),... more

In stayed in the hotel in June and had a great experience. We stayed in two different rooms and the first room had two levels with a great view of the city from the top and access to the pretty courtyard, I would recommend requesting this room. The other room was nice but much smaller for the same price. The... more

I had stayed in Cusco with a local family for 2 weeks while studying Spanish. I went to Tambopata and returned, expecting to go on to Urumbamba. However, the lodge in the Valley was more than I wanted to pay and I thought I could do better, so I searched this forum and found Amaru. Oh my goodness!! What a... more

My travel partner and I are 24 from Chicago. We stayed at the Amaru mid-November 08. The location was amazing and we walked all over Cusco with no problems. Amaru was a great home base location. There are a lot of places to eat right around the corner also. The hotel staff was very helpful and ordered us cabs when... more
