We flew into Lima late in the evening and went straight to the hotel from the airport. Upon arrival at the Hostal El Tambo Peru, the property was clean and tidy with beautiful furniture and a quaint dining space. However, they told us that we did not have a reservation. I produced my printed reservation information to show them that we did, in fact, have a reservation (we had reconfirmed the reservation just a few days earlier). The lady at the desk realized that she, herself, had booked our reservation. (Her name was at the bottom of the email). At that point she informed us that they the computer had crashed and they had lost all reservations for the date of our stay... there were no paper records. Additionally, the hotel was now completely booked. So she could not give us a room... no apology... no offer to help us find other accomodations. Of course, we were a bit stunned and worried that we would not find anything nearby at such a late hour. We did not get angry, but... more
