Inkawasi (I believe it´s technically called¨"Backpacker Inkawasi" as our friend from Lima had trouble googling it) was well reviewed in the 2007 Lonely Planet book. The room rates were definitely reasonable, and they had immediate availability for our group of 7 when we called from the airport. This was near the end of our 2 week trip in Peru, so we had pretty much gotten used to what to expect by this point. They have a "dormitory" and several regular hotel type rooms of differing sizes, which were what we stayed in. For us, here´s how it broke down:
Pros:
- location provides easy access to restaurants, shops, and taxis
- beautiful converted old home
- open air design with a nice central courtyard
- occasional hot water
- things were kept pretty clean
- there is a kitchen available if you wish to cook meals (though we didn´t even go in it)
- reasonable rates (about $35 for a double room)
Cons:
- the cat, though...
