This was a very interesting hotel. It had a lot of character. Old, not in the greatest shape, but everything was clean. Service was very helpful. Food was OK. Being in the best location in the central Lima was a huge plus. Realistically, this is a 4 star place, not five. But, 3 nights that we have stayed there, felt... More

I only stayed here for one night, but loved every minute of it. Personally, I really love historic sites, and it was especially cool to stay at a hotel that people like Clark Gable and Mick Jagger stayed at. As if the outside of the building wasn't beautiful enough, the inside was truly grand. All of the furniture, at least... More

Despite all the care and attention lavished on polishing the brass works, marble and wooden floors and vacuuming threadbare carpets, the mood in this grand old dame is melancholy, almost to the point of gloomy. This matches the demeanour of most of the staff, even taking into account the language barrier. Seemingly the only staff with a spontaneous smile or... More

This must have been an incredible hotel in its heydey but still offers charming settings. If you want to stay in old Lima...this is it. One could not build a hotel like this today.....spacious rooms with large bathrooms, marble floors and pillars, 30 foot ceilings with crystal chandeliers, ornate french plaster designs, and balconies off your room. The bar downstairs... More

very popular bar for the locals, very prompt service, menu choices good and the Pisco Sours are to die for. Went on Friday evening and the place was pumping. In downtown Lima lots of locals enjoying the nice evening conditions.

Our group stayed in two rooms, one facing the street, the other facing a courtyard. The room facing the street was extremely noisy due to partying going on in the street (til 4 AM), the other room was quite. The hotel had a nice breakfast and the rooms were very large, but mattresses were old and hard. Our room facing... More

This is a historic hotel in the middle of historical center, which is a very good location. You will be impressed pour le façade and its interior, very elegant and chic. However, the air conditioning inside the rooms do not work at all. The price is reasonable. Este es un hotel historico en el centro historico de la ciudad. Te... More

This was an old school hotel. It was nice to see the past style of what old Lima would have stayed in. The rooms were big but the beds were hard. The breakfast was excellent and it was very centrally located right in the middle of the city. For the 100 dollars we paid for 3 people for 1 night... More

Wonderful old hotel alive with memories of past glory and history, not to mention the architecture. The rooms were clean and spacious but the beds were a bit on the hard side. We had a wonderful terrace overlooking the plaza. The street noise was just a part of the overall Lima experience and didn't really interfere with our sleeping. Both... More

Having lived in Lima for two years back in the late '60's, my memories of the Gran Hotel Bolivar were of old world grace, impeccable service, awesome rooms and amenities and of course, the famous Pisco Sour Cathedrals in the bar/restaurant. Well, upon visiting on Jan 16-19, 2013, the only remnants of my memory is the Pisco Sours. They are... More
