I've stayed in Domeyer several times when visitng Lima over the past five years. Up until my most recent visit in September 2008, I absolutely adored this place; the old colonial structure (love those tall doors!), clean and comfy rooms, black cats wandering the halls, etc. All very endearing and I always looked forward to my stay at Domeyer.

Our unfortunate experience recently has led us to decide that we'll never be staying here again. Here's what happened in order of events:

When we arrived, the person at the front desk demanded we pay cash upfront for all nights (as opposed to paying upon checkout). Right away this should have indicated a cash flow problem.

Next, for the entire 4-days of our stay, we were not offered soap, clean towels, or any cleaning whatsoever of our room.

Our bed did not have sheets- only a torn piece of fabric that semi-covered the mattress and a blanket.
