In order to spend more time at Machu Picchu and give us the opportunity to see the famed sunrise above the Andes... my wife and I decided to stay overnight in Aguas Calientes at the Inkaterra. This hotel was set in a beautiful place... just outside the city of Aguas Calientes... making the setting even more serene. My wife and... more

What a great place to relax after a long day visiting Machu Picchu ruins. Our family absolutely loved this hotel, from its ffriendly staff to complimentary tea, fruit and coffe & cake. Our rooms ( more like bungalows) were spacious with a great sitting area overlooking the lush garden. Breakfast sure was a highlight, quality and quantity, must try the... more

The pros: The grounds are lovely, the food (breakfast and dinner are included during your stay) was great. The room was quaint and well decorated. There are fireplaces, robes, and slippers in most rooms. The cons: The room had a fairly strong musty/moldy smell. We don't think it was due to a lack of cleanliness, we think it was because... more

I took my wife and two boys (10 and 12) to Peru and we took the train to Aguas Calientes on June 10 and stayed two nights. On June 11 we had a guided tour of Machu Picchu, including Wayna Picchu, and we took the Spectacled Bear tour on June 12. The grounds are beautiful. It is located in the... more

What a great place to kick your feet up after hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This place is gorgeous and very hospitable. The resident hummingbirds were so beautiful and fascinating. I had a much needed massage in their spa which really hit the spot after the 4 day backpacking trek through the mountains. They also have one of... more

We only stayed at this hotel one night and that was not enough to take advantage of all it had to offer. We arrived after a long day of travel from Cusco and sight seeing at Machu Picchu. We ate a smashing lunch, ordering from the menu in the dining room of the hotel with its charm and views of... more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in Feb.,'09. First, the positives: beautiful ambience, orchids, optional hiking and wildlife tours. Also, food is included in room rate, which helps make it more reasonable in price. That being said, my husband did get sick while staying here from one of the meals he ate. We did not... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night during out trip to Machu Picchu. Overall, It was a fabulous stay. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. The food and service at the restaurant was exceptionally good. We used their outstanding tour guide Braulio for our adventures to Wayna & Machu Picchu. It isn't cheap but they justified the... more

We stayed at the Inkaterra for two nights and do not know why anyone would want to stay at the top at the Sancturay. Even though you are near the train station, the setting is a cloud forest and the grounds are lovely. It is easy to get to Mach Picchu, but you leave the crowds and enjoy peace and... more

I stayed at Inkaterra for one night before moving on to the much advertised hotel at the site of Machu Picchu. The only complaint was that the "home" office in Lima did not pass on my requests for a guided tour and sauna reservation. However, from the moment I stepped off the train, the staff at Inkaterra was so accommodating... more
