This is the only place to stay if you are visiting Machu Picchu. The rooms are not large but they have everything you could want...very comfortable beds and linens, all the amenitites!!! And the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful !! Plus the food in the restaurant was excellent. And you are right at the site. more

My friend and I (two single gals in our 30s) traveled to Peru in October 2009 and as a HUGE birthday splurge, we decided to stay two nights at the Sanctuary Lodge. We'd read reviews saying that the rooms were not worth the money etc but decided to go for it! When we arrived, we thought the rooms were FANTASTIC.... more

I just stayed at this beautiful lodge with a friend of mine. Although upon making the reservation we were a bit shocked by the sticker price we found out at check-in that it was worth every penny. To explain, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are included in the price, non-premium beer and wine are included in the price ... including... more

We spend one night at Sanctuary Lodge. Yes, it is very expensive, but we felt it was one of the things we had to splurge on since we had always wanted to come to Machu Picchu. We had heard that the hotel was a very expensive "Motel 6" which wasn't true at all. The rooms were not large but they... more

I went with a group of friends and did the 3 day hike to Machu Picchu. At the end, we stayed at the sanctuary and was so delighted I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Great service, magical location. It's expensive but everything is included. I had non-stop room service and tons of wine. You'll only do it... more

My friend insisted that we stay up at the ruins at the Sanctuary Lodge. I read the reviews but was still uncertain if it was worth the price. It is expensive but well worth it. The whole experience of staying at the lodge added so much to our memorable visit to Machu Picchu. The hotel sent a bellman to meet... more

OK, so it's basically a remodeled Holiday Inn, rooms are tiny, but who cares when you can just step out of your hotel room and walk to the ruins for sunrise! Restaurant is quite good (though we got a touch of food poisoning at dinner), but service can be slow. Staff is superbly attentive and helpful. But trust me: you... more

Dear guest, We hope your trip back home was safe. We enjoyed having you stay with us. Thank you very much for your comments about out hotel and location. It is really good to be close to the rooms when visiting the Machu Picchu citadel. Regarding the problem at our restaurant, we have gone through the records for that night...

We initially decided to spend a night in the Sanctuary Lodge for the convenience of accessing the ruins at sunrise and for a special indulgence. But we did not anticipate how exceptional and luxurious every aspect of this hotel would be and how much it would enhance our spine-tingling experience of Machu Picchu. The service, staff, food, atmosphere and convenience... more

After a luxurious arrival via the Hiram Bingham train and a very long and very windy road (and scary!) up to the hotel, check in was a simple process where everything was explained to us simply, and we were shown to our mountain view room. It was a decent size (larger than our first Monasterio room actually, although not as... more
