My friend insisted that we stay up at the ruins at the Sanctuary Lodge. I read the reviews but was still uncertain if it was worth the price. It is expensive but well worth it. The whole experience of staying at the lodge added so much to our memorable visit to Machu Picchu. The hotel sent a bellman to meet... more

OK, so it's basically a remodeled Holiday Inn, rooms are tiny, but who cares when you can just step out of your hotel room and walk to the ruins for sunrise! Restaurant is quite good (though we got a touch of food poisoning at dinner), but service can be slow. Staff is superbly attentive and helpful. But trust me: you... more

Dear guest, We hope your trip back home was safe. We enjoyed having you stay with us. Thank you very much for your comments about out hotel and location. It is really good to be close to the rooms when visiting the Machu Picchu citadel. Regarding the problem at our restaurant, we have gone through the records for that night...

We initially decided to spend a night in the Sanctuary Lodge for the convenience of accessing the ruins at sunrise and for a special indulgence. But we did not anticipate how exceptional and luxurious every aspect of this hotel would be and how much it would enhance our spine-tingling experience of Machu Picchu. The service, staff, food, atmosphere and convenience... more

After a luxurious arrival via the Hiram Bingham train and a very long and very windy road (and scary!) up to the hotel, check in was a simple process where everything was explained to us simply, and we were shown to our mountain view room. It was a decent size (larger than our first Monasterio room actually, although not as... more

Decided to splurge on a couple of nights here due to it being the only hotel actually at the ruins and was so pleased that I did. I was worried that the hotel couldn't possibly deliver something that made it feel worth the huge price, but in fairness to them, they go out of their way to make sure you... more

The Sanctuary Lodge has the best view of the ruins and is spectacular, We enjoyed every moment of our time at this resort. The food at the restaurants and the service was second to none, "Trie Bien" We wish we stayed more as 7 days was not sufficient to appreciate this spectacular place more

We chose the Sanctuary Lodge for an overnight stay at Machu Picchu, and its location and ease of access to The Citadel made the expense well worth while. The food in the guest's restaurant was superb, as was the service of the entire hotel staff. One downside on the night we stayed - the electricity was out from 5-6pm due... more

We had a wonderful experince staying at this hotel. We choose this hotel as part of our package from Cultural Immersion, inkastravel.com. (Eduardo did an outstanding job planning our tour of Peru) The rooms are small but very comfortable and the food is excellent. If you are only staying one night then I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The... more

The location of this hotel simply can not be beat. You are literally steps from the entrance to Machu Picchu. The all inclusive rate is steep but is totally worth it. The hotel's restaurant is superb. The orchid gardens (where the complimentary day room is located) are gorgeous. The rooms are a bit small and somer of them (like mine)... more

Room with mountain view excellent, food and drink exceptional and unlimited. Staff efficient, friendly and always there if needed. we arrived on the Higham Bingham and checked in before our first visit to MP. It would have been infinitely preferable to check in after the tour and check out later the next day. As it was we had to be... more
