I had confirmed a reservation with credit card and passport information, received confirmation from the hostal that our rooms were booked. When we arrived as the sun was setting they had given our rooms away to someone else and offered no apologies or assistance. We had to get a much more expensive hotel elsewhere since most places were full. Very... more

We arrived at Las Orquideas after a long and tiring day hiking Machu Picchu and taking trains. The rooms were very cozy and clean. Even though the hostel is located right on the main road to the train station, we were not disturbed at all by street noise as the town shuts down pretty much completely after dark. The hostel... more

We stayed for one night in May 2008- a double with private ensuite bathroom (yes, with hot water!). The rooms are simple, but comfortable. The owner and staff were very friendly. The courtyard is very charming and gave the whole place a very relaxed feel. The hotel is in a great location because it's not on a busy street with... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night. I agree with most of the other reviewers - this is good standard accommodation at a very good price. Rooms are on two levels and are arranged around a courtyard. We were put on the ground floor. I was a bit nervous as in these older places if someone noisy is... more

Stayed here as a family of three in the upstairs room #7 with 4 single beds. The hostal has a nice, rustic air to it. Ceilings are exposed wood beam, facilities are basic. No heat. Beds are comfortable, plenty of lighting, good hot water 24/7. You may hear some dogs barking at night, but in the distance. Included breakfast is... more

I booked this hotel over via email and did not have to put down a deposit. We arrived to the central square in Ollantaytambo via taxi from Pisaq (50 soles for 4 people) and headed down the street towards the ruins. A left at the main road (towards the train station) takes you straight towards this hostel. It has a... more

This seems to be primarily a one night stop hotel on the way to Machu Picchu (we stayed there three nights), run by staff who have no ownership in the place. It is used widely by a number of tour companies. The rooms are set around a nice courtyard and it is close to the centre of town and the... more

Stayed for a few days at this hostel, after being forced to check out of a dodgy hostel also in Ollantaytambo. The location of Las Orquideas is fantastic...just a couple of hundred metres from the train station to Machu Picchu. Lots of restaurants nearby and the area is clean and safe. The staff were lovely and we got one of... more

We were in Cusco at the height of the season, during the week after Inta Raymi, but still our Cusco hotel was able to call Hostal Las Orquideas for us and get us a room for five days later. People there don't speak very much English at all, and the bottom sheets pull out easily so you end up sleeping... more
