We booked a double room in this hostel for 2 nights and regretted it. Although it is well-located and the staff are fairly helpful, the room itself was dark and dank, with no windows, the most uncomfortable (foam) matttress I've ever slept on. There was nowhere to put our stuff (ie, a clothes hanger, or bedside tables or...anything), just a... more

Stayed at Che Lagarto Hostel for about 3 days, while I walked around Uruguay. The rooms are big, but not really comfortable. They look very old and not exactly clean. The same goes to the bathrooms and the beds. There were lockers under the beds, but one could easily get access to them by lifting the thin wood that separated... more

Having travelled extensivley throughout the world & South America i had the misfortune of experiencing¨"Che Lagarto" in MVD, Uruguay. We arrived from Buenos Aires via the ferry then taxied to the "Hostel". It´s one redeming factor is it´s location. It is situated on the Plaza Indepencia which is very central for exploring MVD.
