My family, (husband, myself and 3 children) were traveling from Central Virginia to Western KY. After 7 hours on the road, one o'clock in the morning, 3 cranky kids and a tired driver we decided it was time to stop. We pulled out the Garmin GPS to see what was nearby as far as hotels. The first 3 we called were solid booked, on to the 4th, The Budget Inn Expres in Ashland KY. It was a few minutes off the main road we were traveling but we were tired and tired of looking for somewhere closer, so thought it would be as good as any place else.
So we drive about 15 minutes and arrive. The exterior appeared to be older and in need of repair, but nothing alarmed us immediately as to what we were in for. I had to ring a buzzer to be let in, but I figured it was late and it was good security. I tell the desk clerk what I need and hand over my credit card as I notice a handwritten sign on the wall.
