The 4 star hotel occupies a gorgeous building in a good location in Sofia. The staff are rather dismissive and the service was poor. The rooms are full of period furniture but leaving little practical space to move, plus we overlooked a next door neighbours yard, complete with dog poo, dog and unsightly other materials!! Delighted with the Maria Luiza. Location was great (if you don't have to drive and park), just a short walk from the main square and the Nevskiy Cathedral. Small hotel with a real boutique feel. Totally ROBBED! Transfers from airport to hotel (about 15 minutes drive) at 40 Euro per person whilst cab charge only about £4-5! On day of checking out, was given a bill which Reception wasn't able to clarify! She explained that her manager prepared the bill and need to speak to her-never bothered to itemise each transaction exactly-PLS BEWARE!! more

This small hotel with 14 rooms and two suites is located just in the heart of the Bulgarian capital. It is a pearl. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet looking like a full scale lunch buffet. Top rooms in very good shape. Very good value for the money. Recommended for all kind of needs and sort of travel. more
