Stayed just one night at the Hotel Rus and was pleasantly surprise. Yes it's a basic 3 star hotel, but if you don't expect more than that, then I think it's great. With the price 85 USD for single room, with a very good location, walking distance to the centre, as well as to the metro station and heaving interesting view on the slow progress of the works of the National Football Stadium. the choice of hotel "Rus" is really reasonable option, if you are not going to throw out your money... more

Large hotel overlooking the Olympic Stadium in central Kiev. Roughly GBP30 in a taxi from the airport (depending on your negotiating skills). Ideally located for shopping, eating, drinking etc which are all within walking distance. Despite the name, the impression of an old "soviet" building was just from the outside. Rooms are very nice and all renovated, I got a standard (economy) room, not very spacious but there was free wi-fi (a bit slow), refrigerator, and safe. Double bed was comfortable. Only the window was old and did not close perfectly. Breakfast was very good... more

We staying at the Rus in July 2009 to celebrate my birthday. The Hotel is large and centrally located. It has an excellent breakfast buffet and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced Hotel in a central location. This hotel is definitely going downhill - two years ago it was trying to improve but now the old Soviet hotel that it once was is beginning to reassert itself. There are far better places to stay in Kiev. I have also been told by a colleague that it very difficult to cancel a reservation. They refuse to do it... more

Kiev hotels are not renowned for their comfort or value unless you are prepared to pay stratospheric prices (eg Radisson, etc). Expect to pay around £120 per night at Hotel Rus for a reasonable standard of refurbished double room.
