Tried to find a reasonable price well-located hotel in Kiev. The Ukraina is well located. Rooms are more likely clean, but you feel like back in the 70s: completely outdated and soviet-styled. Breakfast OK. Free porn on TV - never seen this feature in any "real" hotel. If I could, would pay USD 400 for Hyatt or Intercontinental. more

I was surprised how great located this hotel is. Bang on - right on the heart of the city. You can walk everywhere from there, all the things to see can be reached within a 10-15 min walk which I thought was absolutely FANTASTIC. You can feel the history there too as you can view the main Independance Square everyday... more

Stayed at Ukraina Hotel for one night in November, while on business in the Kiev-area. Unfortunately a very Soviet-ish, no thrill experience. Got a huge, weird-smelling 3-room suite on the 9th floor with a very impressive panoramic view of the Independence Square. After spending a week in Russia we had similar expectations for Kiev, but Ukraina was pretty good. We got a renovated room - spacious and although it definitely wasn't our taste, it was a good hotel room. The staff were very helpful, and spoke English - which we didn't expect at all. Ok i know the hotel has changed much since one year ago.. But when i was there for 7days which seemed to a life time almost.. There was only the first two floors renovated up again.. Previous reviews all seem fairly reliable but my own impression was less negative than some. Although there is indeed a (rotating?) The room was ok for size and had a great view over the square, it was reasobaly up to date and fairly clean. The hotel is being updated and so there is noise from builders and a strange diesel like odours on some floors.
