Winter is when a Hotel is really put to the test and the Lybid failed miserably. The rooms were cool..and the water warm at best. The only way to keep warm was to stay in bed! Whats good? Overpriced (paid $120 for small box room), but average value for Kiev I guess. Outdated, no amenities (though TV with BBC), small. Nice views. Reasonably close to train/subway station. Overall a clean and comfortable Hotel in a excellent location should you be traveling by Train anywhere. Twin room and bathroom were a little on the small side but adequete, food in the restaurant was very nice and reasonabley priced although be prepared to have to wait a long time service is definately not fast. more

I usually spend about $100/ day for a hotel in Europe. Given that, I found nothing to complain about here. Five years ago as well at last week it met all reasonable criteria well. The Lybid is a great hotel, though, like all hotels in Kiev, a bit pricey. They offer all services; internet, taxi service, bar, restaurant, but at a price. If you can speak some Russian, do yourself a favour and walk down the block to get a cab, it will cost you half what these guys will drive you for. Internet?... more
