This hotel is an aging facility that is not maintained well. We arrived and were charmed by the small villas and the overall layout that ensures everyone has an ocean view. But, the side of the island that is the resort has nothing else. You are limited to the same menu everyday and the bugs are absolutely horrendous. I am... more

Be careful if booking a 'fishing trip' from Bananas with Alexis (who seems to be one of the main on-call fishermen). One of the highlights of our stay was going to be a fishing trip so we booked Alexis to take us fishing the following morning in his evidently well-equipped boat for USD 50 an hour (the official hotel rate).... more

Bananas Resort is a nice 31/5 star place on the other side of Isla Grande in Panama. If you are looking to get away from it all and have some private time this is the place. It has nice clean rooms and the staff is friendly. The downside is no real beach to swim, music was low and only on... more

We stay on the resort during four days from March 19 to March 23. All we saw on its internet web site we found and too much. The resort have a good service if you go to find a relaxed place. The restaurant have a good combination of differents meals, just the necesary!. Insalations are well, the room was very... more

I went with three other people and we stayed for one night. We were on kind of a quick tour of panama and this was one of our stops. I would agree with other reviews about it being a solid 3 star resort not a 5 star. The management could be a bit better (we wanted to check out an... more

First Bananas is not a 5 star resort, it is a very nice 3 star property that is on a small island maybe a 1/2 mile offshore. It is about a 2 hour trip from Panama City with the last 20 kilometers on a rough paved road with mucho potholes. The boat ride to the far side of the island... more

Overall Score on a 5 STAR scale = 1/4 STAR This hotel is an aging facility that is not maintained well. Water was off/on daily and toilets did NOT flush on one day we were there. No hotel staff spoke English enough even for basic communication. This included the front desk and hotel management. The French General Manager as mention... more

We stayed at this resort in December 2007 through the New year. The view is incredible, the ocean perfect BUT... the resort .. THE WORST I HAVE EVER BEEN IN. We have travelled a great deal through the USA, Asia, Europe and Canada, and have never experience anything this bad. We arrived on Dec. 27th, You drive from Panama city... more

Located on Isla Grande, there isn't a better place to stay! (In my opinion) My husband was born and raised in the Canal Zone in Panama and I have visited on three ocassions. We have been here to the island several times but this was the first visit to this particular resort. Upon arrival by boat you receive a free... more

Just got back from Bananas Resort on Isla Grande yesterday. It was a very nice place with large rooms (3 to an "A" frame). The bottom 2 are adjoining if required. The rooms were a little worn, but the beds were firm and good for sleeping. Hairdryers are also included in the room. There is a hammock on each balcony... more
