In the middle of March, we were looking for a place to stay in the Brunswick area, but it seemed that most B and B's in the area were closed for the winter. We were very lucky that another innkeeper referred us to Wabi Sabi Cottage, because our stay could hardly have been more wonderful. The B and B/Cafe is... More

Stayed at Wabi Sabi cottage together with my 16 yr old son in separate rooms and thoroughly enjoyed it! Joan is very hospitable and makes fabulous food. When we arrived mid-afternoon we were treated to tea on the screened in patio overlooking the Sheepscot river. Joan's scones, homemade jam, and fancy ball shaped donuts were delicious. The room in the... More

We like everything about Wabi Sabi. The place is as quirky and adorable as the pictures suggest and the surrounding scenery is breath-taking.The lemon scones and blueberry muffins are to die for and we're not much into baked things and sweets. The wonderful "Horse Eggs" are soft scrambled eggs (straight from the hens you can hear clucking below the porch)... More

Overlooking the Sheepscot River, in Alna, ME you'll find Wabi Sabi Cottage a most charming bed and breakfast. Embracing the philosophy of Wabi Sabi and showcasing the innkeeper's love of the 19th century you're sure to enjoy a stay in mid-coast Maine. It's within walking distance of my home so I haven't slept in the quaintly appointed rooms but, without... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Wabi Sabi Cottage is a 2 Room Bed & Breakfast. Innkeeper, Joan, has a passion for old General Stores and has collected antiques for 18 years which populate every inch of the cottage. The Post Office from the Old Seal Harbor, Maine (yes, that is where Martha Stewart has her summer home Skylands) was purchased at an antiques auction and built into the wall of the 8 seat "Post Office Cafe". Few people sit in the cafe when the screen porch overlooking tidal Sheepscot River is available. Many locals enjoy sitting around the large round table in the kitchen while Joan cooks every breakfast to order. She rises at 5am every morning to make fresh scones (she has sold over 15,000 scones in two years that are delivered fresh daily to the local Maine Coast Bookshop Cafe).Open for breakfast with full menu 7:30-10:30 daily (CLOSED MONDAYS). Lunch and dinner by reservation. Eat family style....everyone eats whatever Joan cooks......no menu for lunch......come eat lunch du jour! (Soup, Salad, 1/2 sandwich and homemade dessert!). ... more   less
