On arriving in Amherst, it took us a good half hour to find the hotel. There was no signage as we approached to confirm where the hotel was located, and our GPS indicated we had arrived half a mile down the road. The building is a 1970s-looking scary Stalinist-style monolith across one end of the beautiful Amherst campus. So on the one hand it dominates the site in quite an alarming way, and on the other hand it has great views of everywhere else! It was a pleasant stay. First time visitors bringing our son to look at the school. The desk staff was very helpful with suggestions concerning the school and the area. The hotel is a teaching hotel, so the staff is majority students. The location indoor parking, high speed internet and the breakfast make this great value. The campus tours leave... more

Pretty disappointing place. Dirty bathroom, cement rooms, unfriendly lady at the desk. This place needs a lot of work. Very hard to find - in campus student union. Not a bad breakfast. Cheap. more

Month of Stay: October 2006 PROS: For any scholar needing to do research at the Du Bois Library, this is the BEST place!
