I was in Amherst to visit my son and family and to attend my grandson's high school graduation. This was absolutely a wonderful experience to stay at the Black Walnut Inn. My room (Carhart) was very large, beautifully decorated, very clean, very comfortable, and Marie was so gracious. You just did not want to leave! She showed me through some... More

We have stayed at the Black Walnut Inn since my daughter was in high school checking out colleges. Luckily for us, she chose a school in the Pioneer Valley so we have been staying at the Black Walnut Inn for five years. We just love it. Marie is friendly and always helpful. She even managed to feed all her guests... More

We have stayed at the Black Walnut Inn for the past four years while attending school events for our son. It is an absolutely wonderful bed & breakfast experience. The folks in charge are friendly and helpful. The Inn has very spacious and comfortable rooms. Breakfasts are delicious, with a wide choice of options. Marie makes some sort of tasty... More

We stayed at the Black Walnut Inn for three days for our daughter's commencement in Northampton along with our son and daughter's godparents. Our room (#2) and the godparents' room (#1) in the main house were both lovely and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent with eggs, pancakes, fresh baked goods, etc., at times of your choosing. The inn is outside... More

The Black Walnut Inn with its friendly innkeeper and spacious rooms was a great choice for us. It was our base of operations for biking both the Norwottuck & Manhan Rail Trails. These flat trails w/no cars were a perfect way to explore. Big rivers, wildflowers galore, and mountain views combined to make it a wonderful vacation. A big bonus... More

The BWI takes a pretty laid back approach. We arrived late Friday afternoon to find the instructions to locate our key and room taped to the door. Breakfast is served between 7 and 10 and it's pretty much anything you want (eggs, pancakes, etc.) and very well prepared. I really like this approach as opposed to the kind of rigidity... More

We arrived at 9:00 PM, and our key was waiting for us with a welcome note from the owner. The room was spotless, comfortable and very large. The breakfast was incredible. In addition to all of the usual breakfast items, the special of the day was corned beef hash with poached eggs. When was the last time you had perfectly... More

Lovely rooms, fabulous breakfast, and great company at the community breakfast table -- this bed and breakfast style inn is an absolute delight! We've stayed there many times and always look forward to going back!

We cannot say enough great things about Marie and the Black Walnut Inn! The Blizzard of 2013 left us without power and literally snowed in so that we had to change our reservation to (tentatively) the next night. Marie was so cool about it and told us not to worry. We did go the next day and that first shower... More

Spent two nights. Room was beautiful and clean. Had that charming New England feel. The location was perfect. The owners were gracious. The breakfast was excellent. We plan to go back. There is no reason to stay in a local hotel when you can stay here.
