This place is just great! The owners are a young couple who are both sweet and attentive and make you feel like part of their family. The place itself is clean, beds are comfy and the breakfast included is fabulous. The dorms look just fine, but I stayed in a private room which was large and just what I needed.... More

In most ways, this is a good hostel, especially given the location. The price is reasonable, the included breakfast is very good, and the location is excellent. The dorms are a bit cramped and dark, but having stayed in several similar hostels it is pretty much par for the course. The bad thing about this hostel is that my girlfriend's... More

First of all, it is not good to make assumptions, when you are "Almost 100% sure", and say that you have seen the footage, when you saw 10mins of it over over the internet before you left, where the quality is not as good as the original file. There are 2 cameras that cover the area where you where and... More

I stayed here 2 nights. The location is excellent, 5 minutes walk from the centre and close to a couple of great bars with live music. The place was clean, there was a fair amount of common space and the dorms were not too cramped. The atmosphere was sociable if a little quiet; on Saturday night everyone was in bed... More

This is a beautiful hostel! I was shocked at how inexpensive this hostel cost for what it offers!! A delicious breakfasts with coffee is included with your daily rate starts at 7:30 a.m. and goes until around 10 a.m. which was great as I liked to be out and about early in the morning. Also, don't miss the fresh squeezed... More

A little expensive for a hostel but rooms and bathrooms were kept clean during my three days there. It felt like a safe place and it was nice and quiet. It is across the street from a great bar and about a 10 minute walk from the main street with lots of other great bars and restaurants. The showers had... More

Great example of hostel living. El Hostal is a beautiful hostel with a nice courtyard to hang out in, clean rooms and bathroom with hot (warm) water. Breakfast was delicious and really showcased the typical Guatemalan cuisine. El Hostal has a ton of extra amenties such as cooking classes I wish we had more time to try out.

My boyfriend and I were on a 5 week trip through Central America. For the past several years, I have traveled through many places down there and stayed in many hostels. El Hostal was by far one of the best. We had a private room right in the center of the common area. It was never noisy late night, allowing... More

This hostel was an nice surprise. Clean and nicely built bedrooms, bathrooms and communal area, real breakfast made with love not just something thrown out so they can say 'breakfast included', relaxing courtyard, good wifi, hotwater, good location. Beds were a bit creaky (but clean and comfy) and secure lockers a little hard to get to but that's the worst... More

Brilliant hostel, easy to find from Central Park. Breakfast choices are amazing...eggs on toast, burritos, fruit salads to name a few with tea, coffee or juice. Breakfast is served to you :) Nice area to relax in, comfy chairs and hammocks. Gets a wee bit chilly at night. Staff are lovely, the place is very clean and tidy. Only reason... More
